Can I join in please? I like this idea of splitting it. I owe over £22k but I'm just aiming for 1% of my credit cards debt not including my loan. CC debt is just under £9000 so 1% for me is £90.
Ive joined the extra payment a week challenge too which I'm doing well with. My plan for my first £90 is
1. music magpie my dvds/cds
2. do more surveys on valued opinions (long haul earnings)
3. join dooyoo and caio (long haul earnings)
4. cash for clothes (local one by me £1 per kilo)
5. sell old mobiles
6. sell homemade xmas cards (made them last year...just need to put them on ebay)
Hopefully this will get me my first 1%:)0 -
Hello all,
Just popping in to say I've made a payment of 2% as yesterday was payday for me. I've written 2 bank charges reclaim letters sojust need to get them posted off and hopefully something will come of that. Hmmm...what to do next...0 -
I also have an update for incomings shortly!
Old mobile on ebay, found an unlock code so that should be another 2-3%
Got a babysitting gig from Gumtree at the weekend which will be another 1-2%
I would also like your advice on crafting, I have some stuff left over from a scrapbook i made my friend last year and one of the things i made in it was a little wire heart with pink beads, it was about 5cm and just wondered if it would be worth me making more, i could make them with green and red beads for Christmas maybe??
@happytails I think most garages have schemes for people with existing finance on the car, its like a trade in and the finance gets transferred from your old car to your new car. Not sure what kind of deal you would get but its prob the one least likely to go wrong.1% at a time challenge member #127

HappyTailz - have you considered trading in your car at a garage for a bigger car that is cheaper?
I did this a few years ago, the garage paid off the remaining finance on my car and set up a new finance deal on the car I bought with lower payments over a shorter period.
Possibly. We owe £4500 and garages only seem to want to give us 'trade value' of £3500the car we looked at yesterday was £4500 so would need to find an extra £1000 so not 100% on that option. We can't increase our credit/finance I don't think.

Had a bit of a drama this morning. My current car insurance messed up and gave my NCB this year to my husband as for some reason my husbands name was listed as the policy holder and me as a named driver. Cue - PANIC! Called up and explained and they've swapped it over and the NCB and sending me a new letter with the right NCB on. They then said the insurance would be £970!! Told them another company had offered me £450 with same extras etc and they couldnt beat it. Ive already took out the new policy for october just waiting on my NCB details now. But what a faff
Took photos of 19 things to list on Ebay today. And wrapped the 3 up i need to post today. Only got 1 thing listed on Ebay so not doing too well since the hen weekend.

Not posted in a while but number 67 clocking in.
Didn't pay anything extra to the cc this month so will pay off more when we get paid at the end of the month.
Need to change my 1% as have had a couple of existing cards offer good deals on low rates till next year so have taken advantage of these. It does mean that my 1% is now £50.00 but that the transfers have knocked 12 months off how long it will be til we clear all our debt. Obviously this is only going to work with the rates on all the cards as they are now but I'm hoping with overpayments we can keep on track.Did owe £9,951.96
Now helping hubby pay off loan. Finally paid off :j

Hi all, Found this thread yesterday and have read through for hours! I got to Page 25 and realised I was still less than halfway through so I have given up & may have to go back and look at all your ideas later!! I was lucky enough to be promoted at work recently with quite a nice bump in pay so I have decided that now is the time to get a move on and make a dent in my debt. Am hoping that as I am used to having much less money each month I won't miss it when it is going towards the CC's and overdrafts! My first payday is on Friday so am gearing myself up for where the extra dosh is going to go. Am undecided on how best to go about this 1% thing though as 1% of my total debt would be £135 which seems huge and quite daunting! Or I could do it on 1% of my highest interest CC which would be £38 - much more manageable but it might mean I don't try as hard! Any suggestions on what's best?2019 will be my year!!0

Ive broken mine up. I have 2 debts running on this challenge. (we have 4/5 debts in total). I find this best as i can allocate money wherever i want it to go. My total debt would mean my 1% was £250 i think id have given up before i got to 1%My first debt is £6500/£65 and second is £700/£7 so much more manageable, once one is cleared ill bring another debt to the challenge
