It wasnt ment in a nasty way I know everyone is intitled to make a living.
But you say you are against rip of britain so are you against people fighting back against rip or Britain or do you think the people on this board should just pay £100 for a good 4* hotel or pay £20 for the same hotel just because EJ as lazy.

I dont see it as a fiddle..its fair game if they put the guarentee out there why not use it.

Too many TA's or T OP's have been ripping people off for years and still are
A friend of mine got quoted 1800 for a holiday that was available from a better airport to her for 1200. When she questioned the cheaper option (same company but 2 days later) she was told "sorry I needed to make my target this month" and laughed ...Is this moral? even if it was said in jest
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

I don't want to take this off topic - BUT (!) thanks for that first link, forgotten about the feedback from that! It's unfair to use your friends comments though as completely irrelevant to both what I do and what the thread is about, which is getting accommodation at below cost price!

There are some poor uninformed people in this industry (like any!), mainly due to non-existent training, terrible pay and backward thinking industry leaders! I choose not to surround myself with these people, and you'd never get a quote like the above from me or any of my staff.

Anyway, my original question was 'am I the only one feeling uneasy about this' - answer is 'I am', so as I hate seeing threads so crazily o/t I'll leave this thread alone, and people are welcome to give me further feedback via PM ;)

I had no intention of taking it off topic, well maybe I strayed alittle about rip of merchants but isnt that the whole point? EJ are trying to rip people off and the good folk who spotted this are helping everyone to fight back.

    Just wondered about your views

    OK, I will comment!

In this case, selling below cost-price is either:

    a) predatory pricing, anti-competitive in nature, resulting in restraint of trade and forcing competitors out of business, and ultimately destructive to the choice of the consumer. Easyhotels could use their massive resources to wipe out all competitors using this method of making a loss on these hotels.

    b) in this case, it's not altruistic, i'd like to think it's a badly thought-out marketing ploy that hopefully backfires because it would be cheaper and simpler to hire someone to compare prices.. However, due to the sheer number of claims they must have (and the fact that they limit it to one claim per person per MONTH!) they realise that people are exploiting their loophole, and by not closing or limiting this, are happy to make a loss.

You benefit in the short term, to those getting a great deal, who might otherwise not travel, great, do it, enjoy your break, i'm not against moneysaving, or great deals, obviously.

But if my business was suffering as a result, too right i'd make a real fuss about it, as my resources don't match Easyhotels, and i'd be penalised for actually being more competitive and cheaper than them.

But, different market and all that!

Fair comment...But its best to make the most of it while it lasts because they will close the loophole sooner rather than later. Isnt it similar to the Sainsbury V Tesco voucher thing that was going on? it was short lived but good and same with this one ...Its not fraud and it will be sort lived so I can see no one getting harmed by it. HotelOpia are owned by First Choice so between them they can afford the small lose and they are getting loads of free advertising on here of it..lol

'Find the same deal cheaper and we'll refund double the difference' is a statement accompanied by the sound of a gauntlet being thrown down! I have twice booked rooms with EJH and had full refunds having found a massively cheaper deal elsewhere. I booked with EJH in the first place because, having seen their price guarantee, I assumed that they were the cheapest

Sam Bee - do you think EJH (and hotelopia) directors will shed even one tear, lose one minutes sleep for the many thousands of people who they have duped, who trusted them to provide the "cheapest price" but have been charged DOUBLE what they could have got elswhere?
To EJH its a numbers game. When the numbers no longer stack up, then they will react.
