Used one of these for the first time. Spent more time arguing about the fact that I had filled in my name and signed it (the clerk said it should be his name and signature) than I saved by using it.

Sounds like you were served by a post office worker who doesn't know what they are doing! Post office staff are not Royal Mail staff and often don't know things like this.

The problem was that when he was holding he form it said, 'your name' and likewise for me LOL

He's not very bright by the sounds of it! Its your deliveries, your proof of delivery and your form. All they need to do it is stamp the form and when I used to go to a post office they would initial the stamp too.
