£16.47 a gallon . .
ahh . . . maybe we're talking cost per mile? Suppose that's feasible0 -

No, theyre a bit further down the list for me - why, are Skoda really bad on this? I will ask my local garage. Does anyone know if they are actually manufactured and assembled in Germany? Petrol prices are first priority bearing in mind the August rise, but I used to have a VW Golf and would like something close - but cheaper!0 -

I'll have a pint of what the OP's on, unless its the meths again.0

OP wants to change car, and has somehow convinced himself that petrol will soon be over £3 per litre! Driving a 306 now, and wants to buy a Skoda Citigo. Had a Golf previously, and wants something like it.
A Skoda Citigo is not gonna be like a Golf, sorry. The VW Up might look more VW like inside. Also, if the price diff is only £500, then I guess it's worth paying the extra, as badge snobbery dictates that the VW will hold its value better. Also consider the Seat which I gather is the best specced of the 3.
Anyway, if you actually want to save money, buy a second hand car, and also consider re-doing your sums as you've been told multiple times. Unless you do a high mileage, fuel will still be a small part of the total cost of buying/running your car.0 -

Meth seems more likely than meths. A subtle yet important difference.
Perhaps they meant that after factoring in all the car running costs, it's going to cost them £3.62 per day's commuting, or £3.62 per 100km. Note that I've done no maths to come up with that distance, it's probably not even in the right ballpark, but since I'm not writing an attention-grabbing subject line I don't really care.0 -
It could be a typo and the OP meant £1.62 a litre. We're never going to find out though because s/he will not address the question.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0
