I think with half of economists expecting a half percent rise in September, and the other half expecting a quarter point rise, the current fixed rates don't look particularly appealing versus 1.8% easy access ISAs.

Fixes don't seem to be improving so much over the last couple of months.

For non-ISAs I would be looking for a gap above variable of 0.7% for 6 months and 1.4% for a 12 months fix so that there's a good chance the fixed will average out better even after the variable catches up at some point.

For ISAs gaps never seem to be as good, but if ISA easy access variable rates are starting to hit 1.8% then any 12 month fixes really ought to be closer to 3.0%

I just opened a santander 2.3% fix yesterday. I am within 14 days of opening and can close.
Would I be allowed to open a new ISA with Coventry Building Society?
