National Counties BS 45 Day Notice Cash ISA (issue 3)
    - 1.60%
Rate guarantee? No. Rate effective from: 11/08/2014.
Minimum deposit: £30,000 (to qualify for the higher rate). Operated via: Branch, Internet, Post or Telephone.
    Notes: 45 days' notice of withdrawal required. 1.45% is paid on £15,000 - £29,999 and 1.30% on £3,000 - £14,999.
Anyone know whether, for balances over £30,000 the 1.60% applies to the whole balance, or just the bit over £30k ? thanks

    My reading of this

    http://www.ncbs.co.uk/savings/tax-free/3rd-Issue-45-day-notice-cash-nisa.aspx

(4th bullet point) is that 1.60% would apply to the whole balance of £30k+

Yer, my reading was completely the opposite.

However, I have phoned them now and you are right and I am wrong (as is so often the case :) )

    :T - because I enjoy being right :p

:T - because 1.60% on whole balance is better than your interpretation :D

But I can't resist asking - are you sure a cash ISA is the best home for your savings? :o

I have been told by CS that Nationwide flexible ISA paying 1.6% is for new money only. But has anyone actully tried to switch an old ISA from other provider just to NW by filling the form send to them (no talk involved) and they actually switch it.

What I am thinking here is that worthy to try as it is a very simple job filling the form and wait. Moreover we have nothing to loose.

Is there any flexible on the market paying higher than 1.6% intetrest which accept old money available in the market for the balance lower than £30k??

Thanks in advance for the lead ...

Assuming you mean the Nationwide FlexClusive ISA: it does accept transfers-in, as you can see from their website.

Yes, I've transferred in to the Nationwide Flexclusive ISA. However, I did go into branch to do it.
  • According to <Nationwide's Flexclusive web page>, transfers are allowed.
    Transferring in

Transfers accepted from other Nationwide ISAs and external providers.

  • As has been posted twice already, the FlexClusive ISA allows transfers in, as per the terms of the ISA that are published on Nationwide's website (did you read these?). It seems a bit obvious, but for the avoidance of doubt: if transfers in are allowed, they are allowed. Transfers in are mostly for previous years.

If you have been told different by Nationwide on the phone, you were given incorrect information. The other explanation is that you misunderstood what you were told.

My previous question I actually want to know whether someone has actually tried it and get accepted because it is not uncommon in Banking what is stated is not actually what is implemented in reality due to discretion they have.
it is actually totally uncommon that the terms and conditions are not adhered to.

purplestar133 has already confirmed that they did a transfer into the FlexClusive ISA. So did I. And whilst Nationwide's terms say transfers in are allowed, so can you, or anyone else.

The Nottingham Building Society Regular Saver Starter ISA (issue 5), paying 3.00% has been added to the first post, as it is now appearing on Moneyfacts.

It can be opened and operated in branch only. No withdrawals are permitted before maturity (05/04/2016). It is available from Tuesday 7th April 2015.
