Hi, thanks for this thread.
2 questions:
1) How do you know Barclays will release another rate on 8th March?
2) What do you mean in the note underneath Aldermore's 1 year FRISA: 'rate will reduce to 2.9% on 05/10/2010' Is this a typing error?0 -

1 and 2 YEAR FIXED RATE ISA'S will reduce w.e.f. 5.3.10. 1 YEAR FIXED RATE ISA: 2.90% (-0.15%). 2 YEAR FIXED RATE ISA: 3.51% (-0.09%). Monthly options also reduced. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.0 -
Will be interesting so see what Barclays comes out with - bit late imo as most people will already have gone with Santander or A&L.
With the 5 year Yorkshire and Clydesdale 5% debate - I have looked and there is nothing that I can see where it says in the T&C's it is definately compounded interest. As said above a couple of sites have stated AER of 4.56%.
This is a shame as I was tempted to change my ISA that I have just done (although not still totally committed) to this one, but Yorkshire have not come back to me.
Please if someone gets a reply can someone put on here for definate whether its compounded interest paid yearly or simply 5% each year payable just on maturity. If and when I get a response i'll do the same.0 -

The only bit on the website I could see is in the interest rate tab on the new product page : http://www.cbonline.co.uk/personal/savings/tax-efficient-savings/cash-isa-fixed-rate-bond/cash-isa-fixed-rate-bond
For Issue 2 - Interest is calculated daily and credited to the account at maturity, or (if any) when the account is closed, if earlier
For Issue 3 - Interest is calculated daily and credited to the account annually and at maturity, or (if any) when the account is closed, if earlier
As was said above, the Key Features pdf is likely old but contradicts this.
I haven't had a reply to my email either and it's not convenient to call, so got a relative to do so for me. The answer was unclear with some mention of accruing daily and an annual statement. So I'm none the wiser.
There was a more definitive answer regarding the transfer form. There isn't one. The page you're directed to has links to transfer forms for 2 other ISAs - the guy said just use the 40 day notice one and change the heading. There's nothing like disorganisation.
Will post more if I get an emailed response but calling would seem the best option if anyone can do so.

Hello.
1) My mate who works at Barclays told me that they are launching a new ISA on 8th March.
2) This was a typo it was meant to be 05/03/2010. This has been corrected. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -

If they can't answer a simple question like that (which shouldn't need to be asked anyway) and can't even design their website to make it obvious which transfer form to use, I don't have much faith in then. I think I'll wait and see what Barclays have to offer.0 -
Thanks TCA - I am with you on this one, I'm not going to consider this as a viable option now. I have as of yet still had no response from Yorkshire.
I would be too worried if they can't answer this and make it clear on their website about the interest then what else would go wrong.
I appreciate you posting this up, I am now certainly not going to consider this as an option. Yes, will be interesting to see what Barclays offer.0 -
Micky, I should have added that CB's response was to my 2nd enquiry - I didn't get a reply to my 1st one from the previous day. This whole thing is maybe an over-reaction but I had a mind-numbingly lengthy and horrendous experience before when transferring an ISA, purely as a result of incompetence by the provider, so I'm being ultra cautious this time round. Will keep an eye out for more decent long term fixes and also for any enlightening info about the CB/YB offering.0

Hi,
I've got a couple of fixed rate cash ISAs with Julian Hodge bank which are due to mature in the next few days. As I now want to have instant access to the money I'm intending to transfer the funds to the Abbey Direct ISA. My only concern is that Julian Hodge only allow 14 calendar days to do this otherwise the money is tied up for 3 months!
I completed the Abbey application form online last night which gives a total of 20 calendar days to get this process done and dusted before my money's tied up. Does anyone have any experience of doing this? What are my chances?
Also another quick question. The first transfer will be worth about £10k so will qualify for Abbey's 3% rate. Can I then do a second transfer for the second amount (about £3.5k) and get 3% on the whole amount all in one place?
Thanks.
Not sure if anyone's interested in this but I did indeed manage to pull of these 2 ISA transfers from Julian Hodge to Abbey/Santander within the 14 days allowed by JH without too much difficulty (despite many people telling me I had no chance) :-)0 -

I must have successfully transferred from their FRISAs around four/five times over the years.0
