Will the insurance company catch me?

If it is something that you are now completely cured of then what is all the fuss about telling her? If she loves you she will understand
IF, however, it is something more serious, like having unprotected sex with other men on a regular basis,or perhaps hard drug use, then really you need to think about going ahead with all of this, if you cannot come clean about your past, then I'd be worried about the future.
Sometimes sharing the skeletons in the closet shrinks them a bit...
Good Luck, whatever you decide.
p.s. if it is genital warts I hope you are using protection as some studies suggest this can increase the incidence of cervical cancer in women.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I agree 100% with LisaT186. If you write to the Chief Medical Officer at the insurer, you cannot get in trouble for non-disclosure. As you yourself have suggested, the chances of getting rated are small in any case, and even if they do rate your policy you can make up a reason, if it's so necessary for you to continue lying to your girlfriend.
IMHO it is sad, though, that people are happy to enter into serious financial commitments with people they cannot be honest with, whatever the circumstances.0 -
surely they cant ask that kind of question nowadays can they, not even for life cover?
they certainly do, also ask if you have had sex with anyone else who has had sex with a homosexual.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser code of conduct. I recall thet there was a thing on watchdog about this some time ago over claims not being paid. They may well just accept what you have told them as the truth, and then when you fall under a bus and your GF is claiming to pay of the mortgage they will probably tell her the policy is invalid.
From my perspective I cant imagine buying a house with my partner and keeping secrets from her, but hey, thats just me. If its in the past then you should just come clean with her, as these sorts of things tend to come back to haunt you at some time, and if its all out in the open now, then no problem, plus your poor GF probably thinks that she has insurance cover in the event of you having an accident etc, and she really doenst have that protection.0 -
Have you contracted something which your gf can then catch off of you?
If this is the case then not telling her is unforgivable.
If not then whats the problem?
Whatever you caught cannot be attributed to your homosexual past. There arent any "exclusive" gay/bi diseases so what are you trying to hide?
But for christs sake stop exercising your urges. You are in a straight relationship now so behave0 -
You have to tell your insurers there is no grey area here. If you realy cannot tell your GF then i understand but to take the chance that something may happen to you which results in her loosing her homewould be unforgiveable (yes even if your dead) so do the right thing.
And i take it by denial of prev posts that it is something bi related in which case it is prob not as big a deal as you think. if she knows you as well as she should then she will understand your "curious" personality.

That isnt a rhetorical question. Why do they?
because if you are a homosexual male, IV drug user, have had sex with partners from certain countries, or a partner of someone who is one of these you are more likely to contract HIV I presume. It's simply a risk assessment for the insurer.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser code of conduct. I would have thought during this day and age of P.Correctness those kind of questions would have been banished to the bin!
they also ask if you take part in any dangerous sports, it's no differentI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser code of conduct.
