hi guys, as I don,t use it much, I will try the VCI I,ve downloaded, it,s just to put music on my wifes ipod, (birthday)present), I don,t keep music on pc.
e-recovery is too much hassle for what I need. I tried the xp,download, nogo, and vista has it inbuilt, and as you say, 12 is for 7.
So, thanks for all your help, much appreciated, it :beer:was worth a try, as I am familiar with xp media player.

update;;;thanks dave, your fix it link did the trick. It fixed 4 corrupted items, and as I had no library, it,s now ok.I have the fix it link on pc, but couldn,t locate the one you found.

Hi Guys, update;;;
Got Media Player set up ok. Ripped several cds to it, to transfer to wifes new ipod shuffle.
Battery low(charging as I type).
Transferred all to sync, BUT, clicking on sync does nothing.Doesn,t even highlight it;;;;;?Shuffle plugged in;Cannot transfer.obviously doing something wrong, never used Ipod before.
Can I sync to ipod from MP, or has it got to be from Itunes???
Any help grateful.

Dont just use VLC, download the K-Lite Mega Codec pack, which hasd not only VLC in but also Media Player and Media Player Classic, as well as codecs to play any media file you can think of, and its free.

Hi, Thanks for reply.
I,ve always used WMP, to rip/burn cds. However, having just got Ipod shuffle for wife, I thought WMP would be ok to put music on it. but NO. So i,ve downloade Itunes, and trying to transfer my library with WMP to it, but it,s a different format, which at present Itunes is re-formatting them so, hopefully I can then put then on ipod shuffle.
When registering it, it wanted credit card details to keep on file.(like hell) so cannot register product;
Obviously, ipod shuffle is not compatable with WMP.
See what happens after re-formatting library:beer:
update;;;sorted, transferred across ok.

If you'd mentioned the iPod thing earlier we could have saved you quite a bit of trouble on the WMP front.

Options:

• iTunes (yuck!)
• MGTEK dopisp ($$$)
• CopyTrans Manager
• SharePod

Note: do not install K-Lite if you want to keep things simple.

What complications could it cause apart from offering more compatibility for video files? Is it just that there will be a number of players etc?

Unnecessary duplication of features leading to potential codec conflicts. There was also some question as to its legality once upon a time.
