DH wanted some preservative for the new shed so went to Lidl and Aldi looking for it with no luck so found some in Wilkinsons in Castleford and treated ourselves to fish and chips.

DD had History A level and came home to study for English next week. She had veg pasta for lunch.

Tried everywhere for foil pie or tart cases and had no luck so might try Amazon or else go to York one day for them.

Marinated chicken thighs for tea with stir fry and noodles.

    Hope you feel better soon

How are you supposed to know an e mail is not for you if you do not read it? Some of them really are a nasty shower and incompetent to boot.

    Sending out more hugs

And hiding on the computer away from little bear who has come home from martial arts in high and vigorous spirits.

Have bought a new iron, and given it a brief road test. What a revelation! It ironed a shirt without being on full and didn't drip or leak. I finished a half hour session with a dry ironing board, which has been unknown. A new iron is very much meaning that I need to get to the bottom of the ironing pile.

While I was in Mr T's establishment I also bought a slow cooker. It is not too big, but big enough for a nice bit of brisket.

Dinner tonight - bought veggie burgers plus hash browns. Little bear who would eat no potato or onions had a stay at the after hours club when I was busy vomiting and was fed hash browns (onion and potato). He was also given baked beans which at home is treated as if it was cooked by the devil himself. He polished off both, we continue to give him bought hash browns and don't tell him what is in them. Tomorrow is testing out the slow cooker.

I am hoping to get a lot of washing done tomorrow, fingers crossed for drying weather. It is so cold here!

    Hugs to all

    Hey strangers....

Not been on here in a longtime!! My laptop died and Ipods aren't really message board friendly!!

Still trying to be as OS as possible, failed quite badly in the last two weeks, lots on my mind though, re-evaluating my relationship, job, where I live, everything really!! Sorted out job, just the other two now! - decided i love my job and to keep at it for time being, just got another pay rise too which is dead handy.

Have a half day tomorrow and am spending the afternoon sorting the house out, it's become somewhat of a tip!

The bad weather has been a nightmare, OH hasn't been able to work so money will be tight till the sun starts to shine!!

    Hope everyone is okay

    Hi all,

    Very late today...

Hugs to all happy and sad xx

LW I hope you enjoyed your holiday - see we,re not all yolkles and since we got electricity the change has been remarkable ;)

Today started off fairly normal DW, WM sorted, off to work - 10 hours at the grindstone, then home.

Made cottage piemout of LO beef from the freezer, had a chat with DS2 and DD - all of a sudden she just went into full-on B@tch mode and caused a huge row with OH - all because he had the audacity to ask her to move her junk off the sofa, so he could sit down.

She,s at that stage in school were she only has to attend for exams and thinks the rest of the time she can lop in the lounge, filling it up with cups, glasses, plates etc as well as phone, laptop duvet and pillows - I was so annoyed with her as its her 16th on Friday and was planning to take the day of to take her to a spa, hair, nails, massage etc, she now tells me that she dosn,t want that carp, and I should be paying for her to have her hair cut anyway as i,m her mum, and i,m such a looser for thinking she,d like it as a gift...:mad::mad:

I now feel like giving her sweet nothing...:(

Rant over - going for a bath to calm down!

  • Hello Pals

Sending big hugs to those who are feeling low or are being affected by the awful weather in parts of the country. It's not very often that there's not rain in Manchester, but fortunately *touches wood* I've never experienced conditions like those being shown on the TV.

Busy day again today - am falling behnd with the housework plan for the week I have off with DD, but I figure as long as we've got out to do some planned activities, the housework can wait. Today we've been swimming - technically saved some money as it was cheaper to sign her into my gym for the day, rather than paying for us both to get in to the local leisure centre pool [totally ignoring the fact that I pay gym membership every month!].

Not been massively OS today: popped to Mr A to get some cheap boxes to make the shelves in the bathroom look a little less cluttered, and I managed to get a few lines of washing out and dried so very pleased with that.

We've decided to try and get our cupboards and freezer a little emptier, so I'm at the beginning of an attempt of eating from our supplies for a fortnight. I'm going to inventory and meal plan over the next day or so, fingers crossed it works!

I've also ventured into the world of blogging - nothing world-changing, just my general musings, vents and randomness all in one place. Feel free to take a look if you like :)

Island maid - I also have a 16 year old DD doing exams and if she spoke to me like that then the birthday would be cancelled.

I've been very lucky really DDs prom is at the end of the month, she found a dress she liked on fleabay, imported from hong kong and was the grand sum of £9.99 with free p&p, it fits like a dream. She picked a little sheer black beaded wrap that was £2.99, went for black suede classic mid heel shoes (so she can wear them again with anything) and my friend brought her a little clutch bag that she thought would go. Jewellery is stuff she already has and shes asked if she can have her hair cut next week but doesn't want it done on the day, she'll do it herself. I got her date a bowtie to match her dress for a whole £1.99 that he's really pleased with. Some of her friends dresses have cost £300+ but she said she wasn't willing to spend that amount of money on a wedding dress, let alone a prom dress!!! Clever girl :T

  • Evening, Just been reading the comments and would like to say hello to everyone and hope we all have a peaceful and stressfree evening.

Island maid, I feel your pain, I have two daughters who are both revising for exams (gcses and a levels) tension is running high, they share a bedroom and any little thing sets them off, especially if my other daughters run around the house within metres of them making noises or laughing. I just take a deep breath and keep thinking only a few more exams to go..... phew. Hubby hides away in the garage in the evenings for the time being. x

Islandmaid, I would tell her that was her birthday present but if she doesn't want it then you will keep it to use yourself, and no, she isn't getting anything else. At 16 I was working part time in our local shop, paid for my own hair cuts etc and still studying for O & then A levels. My mum would have slapped me if I had behaved like that at 16 - although that was 30+ years ago :o That is so disrespectful - my sons weren't anything like that despite their exam stress and their father being difficult, and we had exams for 4 years before they went to uni as they were 2 years apart.

Really don,t know what to do - I think I will cancel the spa and it might make her think about how she treats us......
