Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 12th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Ooh, its ages since I started the Daily!

Not much going on - DH is away with work...southern hemisphere trip for less than 4 days - ridiculous!

The builders have moved in again - we're having some work done on the roof & some rendering to make the house watertight again. Scaffolding doesn't half make one's kitchen dark!

DS2 has finished his dissertation for his MA...just need to wait & find out what the result is.

DS1 has just moved home with his GF - we're taking them to IKEA at the weekend for essentials!

Work is still the same - I'm still keeping the wheels of local government turning ;)

OS wise - I still can't bring myself to do the ironing, I hate it SO much!; there's a cooked chicken wants stripping & making into stock; I did a shop at Tesco last night that had about 30% Y/S items :D so need to meal plan around that now - will keep me busy today!

:hello: to everyone and :grouphug: for those who would like one

Floss xx

    Morning!
Was going to start the thread, then wasn't sure!:rotfl:
Was awake at 3am again, thinking about my Mamma. She has been gone for four years now, but I still occasionaly wake at night crying. Cat was asleep on the stairs at the time, next thing he is on the bed sticking his head under my chin. He always seems to know when I'm upset.:o

OH's road was closed yesterday due to flooding. 30 basement flats had to be pumped out in Littlehampton. Fortunately for him, he is on the top floor of a victorian house, but he couldn't get out anywhere. We have had a months rain in 24 hours!

Going to ring the doctors this morning. Think I've got a water infection, which is why I'm falling all the time:o

    Liver for dinner I think.

    Have a good day all!

Morning Floss and all who follow. Cold and dull here today but at least Jack and I were dry on our walk. DH is making slow progress on the bathroom, place is a tip but not worth tidying at the moment, I'm glad I can go to work so I don't have to look at it. freezer surprise for tea as forgot to get out the gammon. Hugs to all in need and hope you all have a good day.:)

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Thank you everyone for your support at this difficult time x Spoke to mum briefly last night and somehow Aunt is still with us, although very poorly and in pain, (she tells mum and dad she's in pain, but when Doc arrives she tell's him she's not!?) Doc and Nurse managed to persuade her and my dad that a Nurse should go last night and stay so dad could go home and get some sleep - he's been there continously for nearly 4 days - only going home to get a shower and change of clothes - he's slept in a chair - not ideal at all.

Dull and overcast here but ground drying, sun supposed to break through the cloud later - we'll see! DH up and off to work at stupid early.

Dinner last night was pork chops, new potatoes, carrots, broccolli, peas and gravy. I remembered to stop off at SM last night and picked up some supplies to keep us going until the end of the week when I do the proper shop. Tonight dinner will be pie, chips and beans for the menfolk, and I'll have mushroom omelette and salad.

Work yesterday was a complete nightmare, the ICT dept had done computer updates over the weekend and, yet again, we had no systems - some people managed to get in to systems, but the computer on my desk, had a major fault - they spent 2 hours trying to rectify the problem remotely then decided that they need to replace it! We were reasonably busy in fits and starts - so not sure what today will bring!

Will try to get washing on the line if forecast says no rain, house is a complete tip as we have bags and washing still everywhere, will try to get it tidied up after work as can't stand looking at the mess!

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Good Morning Floss, Hilstep and all to follow.

Hope you feel better soon Hilstep (((hugs)))

Have woken to yet more rain, its horrible out there. Yesterday one of our lorry's broke down - because of the rain - horrible nasty weather.

Today I am dropping DD off at college, having a quick shop then popping into my mums on the way back. Once home hope to make some bread and leek and potato soup for the kids dinner. I am off out to an Indian for a friends birthday :j and OH will probably have eggs on toast.

Have done the essential business stuff this morning, need to empty the dw and tidy the kitchen then I will be ironing until it is time to go.

Hope you all have a good day & no-one on here is too badly affected by the weather.x

    I've been Money Tipped!
Really just popping in to give hugs to all. Hope all are okay.

About to start getting little bear ready for school. As it is literally five minutes walk, and I don't like getting him ready too early in case he spills stuff on his uniform so there is always an artificial rush.

Not sure about O/S today. I am diving back after dropping little bear off from school to get his martial arts kit ready before diving out again before OH (off work) gets up. I am not sure where I am going, except out. I need a new iron. It was already leaking and spluttering and really not getting warm, then I dropped it on a carrier bag, so I suppose I can try looking for that.

I have been recommended one of those huge steamer things. I am scared of them. It will probably be a value iron from somewhere - again. I drop irons too often to be safe with anything but cheapest.

However OH is out tonight with darling father, so I plan to make huge inroads into the ironing. If I find an iron.

And lots of hugs to all - I don't really know people on here as such, but my heart goes out, especially to nmlc, it is so hard.

    Morning all,

just popped in over breakfast as I'm working from home today.

Bargainbird - love your Tuesday picture. It made me smile:)

As I'm home in between work I plan to make a start on the ironing mountain and tackle the front lawn before someone tries to make hay from it:o

Its also dry with a light breeze so I might hang the washing out instead of draping it over the airers. But then again am I creating more work cos then I'd have to rush it back in if it rains - honest I'm not really bone idle, just arthritis in my wrists so often the airer wins as I can clear it in stages.

Have a lovely day everyone, and if I can share the sun that's just appeared I will.

    Morning all,

Hilstep I forgot your OH lives close to me, that road in Littlehampton was terrible, those poor people, hope you are ok xx

We had terrible flooding down out road (photos on FB) it was like a river, over our knees in places, there was someone in a canoe doing down the street !!, luckily we are up a bit higher on a bank, but the houses up the road gardens were completely flooded, poor people must have been frantic, it seems to have mainly gone today, but its still raining :(

Got loads done yesterday, so more of a relax today, going to have a shower in a while, then drop dd off at work, home to have a quick tidy through, and hang the washing on the airer.

Will then go and see my dad, and this afternoon do nothing :D well that's the plan, bet it wont happen.

Nmlc, Your poor mum and dad, must be so hard for them, hugs to you all xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all

I'm soooo excited, I'm spending the next 2 days with my 4 best friends :j:j:j. Which you may not think is an unusual thing/something to get that excited about, but one of my best friends lives in Canada, and although I have seen her a fair bit (she was the one who got married in Bahamas) we haven't all been together properly in over 3 years. So today we are going for lunch and shopping in Cardiff and tomorrow we have a spa day :D. I can't wait!

So very little OS for me. Recycling to go out, freezer dinners.

    Have a fab day all
