I have also came such situations many times where my download to upload ratio difference is large i.e. download is large. I thought the pages that load may contain media rich content. But the internet speed becomes slow and I searched for tool that detects for the bandwidth analysis (if the its been stolen or used by others) but no proper tool I found. Is there any tool to do the same?

Mine's the 2830n, it has '50' in the 'Firewall Mb/s' column. Does that mean the firewall tops out at that speed, so it'll go faster with it off?
Seems strange it could be that, as I'm getting 60M on tests even behind the Draytek, and my torrents actually reach closer to 70M (8.5MB/s down, and 975kB/s Up)

Even with the firewall 'off' I imagine the traffic still has to pass through it IYSWIM.

Check out https://www.forums.draytek.co.uk for a number of threads on the 50Mb/s issue. It looks like the 2830n may go faster but 50Mb/s is the max Draytek will warrant.

Unfortunately my 1.4Mb/s ADSL line doesn't give my 2830n that problem :D

You've only got 60meg? Shocking. I don't know how you can live with it.

    It only bothers me because
    1. I'm paying for up to 100M, if I only get 60M I'm hardly better than just 50M
    2. Doing the same test over the same connection when I first switched to Virgin got 92M - I want to know where it's gone.

more virgin users signed up to the service since you did - there is a finite amount of bandwidth available which, IIRC, is limited by the virgin hubs/distribution points (i.e. the cable equivalent of the DSLAMs)......give it another 6 months and you may find you generally get circa 50 meg....

Speed will be variable and is likely to decrease the more users sign up. In the July holidays when kids and students are home, expect a slower connection due to network load.

In the great scheme of things nothing is much affected by the loss of speed you have - it is "up to" 100meg - you are unlikely to see initial results of 92M continue ad infintum, it will inevitibly reduce over time, but the Draytek could be limiting, having said that, did you see the 92M with the same setup?

Have you bridged it? Have you reset both devices? Tried a wire change?
How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.

Ah-ha, modem mode gets me up to 74M down, plus still my 8.5M up.
    Much better!
