i have a fantastic postman who would go out his way to help in anyway he can .. even non related to the royal mail.. if i had a envelope that was damaged he would knock the door to let me know he had picked it up like that and when he has finished his rounds and anything at the bottom of his bag he will come back to me to see if its mine..royal mail dont get it right all the time and i think some people will use this for there own gain.. as for when there is competion for the mail... just remember what has happened on the railways etc.. prices are sky high and standards are at the lowest they can get...

You're very lucky if i get mail the postman is on a good day, if the guy that lives in the house with the same number a street away gives me my post i'm on an excellent day. I very rarely get my mail in fact i often have to phone company's up and explain why ive not paid the bill

No ear - bashing at all - you're exactly right. The standard of person employed to be a postperson is falling due to the standard of the job falling due to people sending away for/tolerating so much junk. The system is overloaded - we are carrying 40-45% more mail now than we were 4 years ago. An average day now is like the worst christmas pressure day of 15 years ago.

On average i carry out 6 bags of mail per day all weighing in excess of 16 kilos. (16 kilos is our max weight limit under H&S but just not realistic these days). Maybe you can understand why it boils my p**s when i come on here and see people sending away for stuff 'for the sake of it' or 'cos its free'.

Simple advice. If everybody did something about their junk mail - the problems with important mail would at least halve.

You lot think you got it bad now..............just wait til the market opens in 2006 - remember where you heard this first ;)

What about the junk mail i recieve which is either blank or marked house owner which our postie brings us on a regular basis, these have never been requested or even directed personally to me, but he brings a load it every week including take away menus which go straight to the recycling bin as again i have the ones i use so why would i want more.

Also its not right to blame everything on the royal mail but it is also not right to blame seller too, our postie is thoughtless and more, we have to have a post box, as when we bought house double glazed patio doors, but he has in the past forced to the extent of ripping a package through the box - why not ring the bell? also i ordered 2 ps2 games (new ones) and again left on top of the box so anyone could have lifted them off and also it was pouring with rain so lucky games not damaged and then last week he tried forcing some thing into the box but had problems so forced the lid off to get something in and left the lid onto of the mail:mad: also he doesnt ring the doorbell when he has a recorded or registered letter instead he chaps the double glazed door hoping i will hear it - not likley as well as the dg patio doors there is also another door so no hope in h*ll of hearing hence we have a door bell, so i asked him why? his reply i couldnt hear the bell ringing duh, i wont say what hubby calls him:rolleyes:
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Today i recieved a replacement!
I hadn't actually told him that i recieved an empty envelope. I replied to an email he had sent which was asking whether i had recieved it yet and told him i hadn't. Today, to my suprise an enevelope with the same writing on came. I was very pleased! i gave him excellent feedback, lol. He had said on the email that he would check with the post office whether i had or not and if not send one out straight away. I assume he just gave me the benefit of the doubt. :D

Laura182 - I would tell him about the envelope, maybe someone else has had the same problem & complained to the seller - might explain the email ..?
At least then they will know to pack it better.

Regarding postmen - we had an excellent postie until they had a ?policy change - all the posties were changed to different hours/routes/duties... as if the job wasn't hard enough to begin with.
Now my regular postie isn't bad but on his days off his replacement (if there is one) is terrible - have had 2 bank cards , birthday & Christmas cards, letters from my kid's school , etc , go missing.
Reported these and finally got bank card delivered ( original envelope placed inside another envelope) but none of the other mail ever turned up.
