Recieved empty envelope.

Recently i bought a wristband on ebay, then i bought another for my friend from a different seller.
I recieved one, but i am not sure which of the 2 sellers it is from.
The other day i got an email from one of the sellers saying if you have not recieved your band by tuesday contact me. today i recieved an empty envelope which was open. It looks like it has been sabotaged as it wasn't opened in the usual way, it has been cut open just below the seal.
What do you think i should do? I am assuming that it is from the seller that contacted me. Do you think i would be justified in leaving negative feedback if he doesn't offer a replacement or refund after i have contacted him?

Best to find out which seller it's from before taking any action. Did the envelope have a sorting office stamp so you can identify the town it was posted from?0

I don't think you can blame the seller if you have received an empty envelope, which you yourself say you think has been sabotaged. Why don't you look at the seller's feedback - this should give you some idea of what sort of person they are. Remember, if you leave the seller negative feedback, he would be well within his rights to do the same for you.0

Yeah, i couldn't make out the location on the stamp but i could just about make out the postcode so i typed it into a rour planner to find out the location and it came up as darlington. The location of the seller i think it came from is sunderland. The location of the other seller is chesterfield, so i think it is more likely to be the one i suspected.
The sellers positive feedback is 98.5%.0 -
From what you say I would look at complaining to Royal Mail, had a similar thing happen to me envelope sliced at the bottom corner just enough to remove item, complained to them and then sorted it out0

i think the posties are clicking on to how much these bands are selling for

dont think its the sellers fault - and i wouldnt leave a negative, but sometimes am too trusting
maybe send him a mail and see what he says
if he comes back and seems shocked/apologetic - giv him the benefit of the doubt and ask him to report it to post office
but if his reply is a bit cheeky or defensive, ask him for refund or replacement and consider the neg
listen to me - i am too soft to ask anyone for a refund
i should listen to my own advice

Also, consider claiming from the post office. I had to fill out a claim form today for a lost parcel and noticed that it is possible for the receiver to claim if the item arived damaged or missing parts.
All they need is your ebay invoice showing what you paid and the torn envelope. You can get a claim form from the Post office.

thanks for your help people.
I will contact the seller and tell him what happened, if he doesn't offer a refund or replacement i suppose i will just leave neutral feedback, and i will try to make a claim from the post office.0 -
If the post office receive an envelope or piece of mail damaged/open or whatever they put it in a see through bag with an explanation that it was received like this! It looks to me that a postie has pinched it! it happens lots nowadays unfortunately!
Send the seller an email like someone suggested and see what they say! I don't think the seller is to blame!

i'm a postie, and before i go any further i'll introduce myself as Becles'sboyfriend.
Theres been loads of problems with these wristbands being posted in ordinary envelopes and getting mangled in the sorting machines. Dont put your faith in damaged items being placed in 'damage bags' - we handle so much crap these days due to people sending away for every single 'freebie' on the planet. Its a numbers game at the end of the day - a certain % of mail is gonna get lost or damaged - FACT. The more you send away for, the more stuff falls into this category. When was the last time you sent away for a 'free catalogue' and thought "hang on ... this weighs 1.4 kg.....what if everybody sent for one of these?"
I saw a poll on here today about still using royal mail when the market opens next year. Please DON'T. You would be gobsmacked if you knew the number of employees who are now suffering from spinal problems due to excessive weights we are forced to carry.
Rant over - i'm here if anybody needs any questions answering on the uk postal service. Hope this helped :cool:I'm afraid I was very, very drunk.0 -
I know that this isn't ebay and I'm going of the thread, but I recently received tres semme goodies from a magazine subscription about 5 bottles of 500ml and the poor postie had had to carry it I was shocked.0
