looking good! If anything, I think you could go a little shorter with the bob, but it looks lovely, and the colour is nice! the clothes suit you too!
Like you, I used to think all this stuff was 'superficial' - and steered right away from it - but it was really an excuse not to try... because if I tried to look nice, and still felt I had failed (as I invariably did, I was overweight and didnt carry it particularly well either), it was somehow worse than not having tried at all.... now, I love it, I love nice clothes, make up, and getting my hair done... and maybe it is superficial, but it also shows the world that you care about yourself, which is no bad thing!0 -
I'm not sure it is superficial.
I've spoken to so many women recently who lack confidence and it holds us all back in life. It'd be superficial if I was reading fashion magazines, shopping all day and if I stopped doing the other things I do in my life and focused entirely on this but I'm not. If anything, I'm doing the other things better because I feel that little bit more confident.
I write books and make religious TV programmes for a living and I have to say this almost feels spiritual! Really, really difficult to explain and maybe people will think it's mad but it does!0 -
I haven't read the whole of the thread but congratulations to you for making yourself feel better. Recommendations from friends would be where I would start with the hair salon and as far as make up is concerned check out Lisa Eldridge and Pixiwoo on youtube, lots of tutorials on lots of different looks.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I think I'm going to do that - videos would be a great way to start. I'm unemployed from next week so have a bit more time on my hands!0
