As it happens, 'groupon' were doing a really good deal with someone else, so I went for it and got a fresh pair of eyes. I've now got a style I never would have thought suited me and everyone says I look 10 years younger.
The common denominator for both innovative hairdressers was that they were male - a much preferred option, I think they have a different way of looking/judging you.
Very interested in your personal shopper comments, have always wondered about the benefits of that service.
My best hairdressers have always been men (although that's not to say all male hairdressers I've had have been amazing).0 -
I cant say I have tried it myself but know people who have and forgive me if I am wrong here but have you tried your local college as some offer reduced price cuts for their trainees and surely many of them would have more idea on what the latest trends are and the fresh looks for you rather than the run of the mill ones they churn out at hairdressers? I cant beleive you have a hair dresser who cant at least recomend a style! Spend time flicking through magazines and find a pic you like or take one of a friends head and ask for something similar maybe ??Failure is only someone elses judgement.
Without change there would be no butterflies.

I agree entirely with Crisp £ note sometimes it is difficult to describe the look you want to a hairdresser and a picture of the finished look is clearer for them and you. Then if the hairdresser thinks that either it won't suit you or your hair they can make further suggestions to the same style.0

OK! Yesterday was THE DAY and I finally bit the bullet and had my hair done at a posh salon.
I love the new look. It isn't radically different really or anything particularly innovative. Just a good hair cut and I could see even when it was still wet that it suited my face better. It was £89 for the cut, colour and blow dry as I got a 20% discount as a new customer. I think my old hairdresser will be able to replicate it though and I have decided if I'm going to spend more money on my hair, I'd rather go more frequently to my old hairdresser than go to the posh new place. I didn't enjoy the whole experience there - it was noisy and busy and I was kept waiting 30 minutes with wet hair after they'd washed the dye out as the hairdresser was busy with another client.
Photos are now on my blog for anyone who is interested.
I can't express how much more confident I feel. It's amazing how this change can make me feel so much more positive about life. I will be unemployed from Friday when my contract ends but even feel positive about that, and at least going for job interviews, I'll feel like I look good.0 -

Thank you. It's amazing how much better I feel.
Parting with the stuff in my wardrobe that doesn't make me feel good is proving difficult though ... !0
