Oh yes sometimes they do court, last count verified by a FOI request it was 49 (forty nine) out of 1.8m (one million eight hundred thousand) invoices issued by the whole industry in 2011 . And the link Stephen provided is hmrc taking them to court for vat avoidance .Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Corncrake2, you've got more chance of winning the lottery than winding up in court. Stand firm.Je suis Charlie.0

Actually it isn't, it's the famous Judge McIlwaine show wherein the PPC got their backside well-and-truly spanked ("next time bring a toothbrush").
Corncrake2, I recommend you read it, it's hilarious.Je suis Charlie.0 -

WHY?
...would anyone in 2014 or later Google a subject then just read an ancient old 2012 thread about it?
This advice is out of date. You must now appeal and win, if in England/Wales!
When you Google a financial subject matter, for the love of God, never just read the first random thread from a forum that you find.

Excuse me, but why didn't you read the rest of the paragraph?Stephen_Leak wrote: »<snip> In these cases, the judges ruled that only the car park owner can take drivers to court. The Upper Tax Tribunal is a court of record, equivalent to the High Court, and therefore its judgement sets a legal precedent. <snip>
No private ticketing company or car park owner has taken any alleged offender to court since. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

Umm, sorry, I thought I had !Stephen_Leak wrote: »Excuse me, but why didn't you read the rest of the paragraph?
But I suppose I must have misunderstood something,
is VCS Parking Control not a ticketing company then ?
The fact that none have _since_ doesnt mean that PPC with bad or no legal advice * might not try, does it ?
Edit : just means that the case would get thrown out earlier/quicker. or are you meaning that it would not be allowed, by a court, in the first place /edit
* Judge was pretty dismissive of the VCS legal advisers
Anyhow, I'm just a bear of little brain so you will have to forgive me. Obviously I was mistaken about something so your post was not as helpful to me as I thort it was so I'll go remove my "Thanks" from it.0 -
OP. I'll bet that the removal of your thanks has really upset Stephen. No, I think not!
You would see that it was a very childish gesture, especially if you had taken the time to read his high quality posts to other OP's.
Keep up the good work Stephen!I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
