The reason I said that smoking is horrible is because my best friend died last year from cancer of the osphogas (spelling?) caused through smoking.

What people convieniently forget especially at airports is that planes have ten foot wide engines that pump out more smoke than every smoker on the planet before they have left the runway.

and smokers are more than happy to be sat in a glass box just to be insulated from self righteous 'plane engine' ignoring non smokers pontificating how nasty we are as they trot onto a 747 with 4 ten foot wide mega smoking engines.

Smoking is disgusting, anti-social, unhealthy and a stupid waste of money. It should be banned completely imho. Roll on July 1st when our pubs will be smoke free.

Yeh - but - is this the place to say it? Again, it's not helpful to the poster who asked for our help.

Maybe you should start your own 'Why I Hate Smoking' Thread - and we can all join in to that (should we choose to).

I am now a non smoker. (8 months)
Even many non smokers have commented that since the smoking ban here in Scotland, in many pubs and clubs- the smell of BO yes BO is now overwhelming.
Be careful what you wish for.

Bet the hypocritical gits have a duty-free shop full of ciggies though...

Why are they hypocritical for obeying the law that bans smoking in all public places? It could be worse. In Kingston, Ontario, smokers can't even smoke on the patio. They have to leave the premises entirely.
What goes around - comes around

In britain 1 kid under 16 gets stabbed to death every fortnight.

whats worse? that^ or an unpleasant smell.

Its a very real pity people like you dont care about things like that rather than something "that smells unpleasant".

They should either provide facilities or stop making a profit out of it - if pubs in Ireland and Scotland can manage that, you'd think an airport could.

It's a lot easier to legislate against the law-abiding than criminals (and you can always turn up on telly saying "crime is going down" even when it isn't).
