Re yesterday's thread - Hope the poster realises that some of us have to manage without a man to support us. Being a widow it has been a struggle to bring up the kids and put them through uni, etc, I work 2 jobs to make our lives as comfortable as I can. This site is full of brave, inspirational and independent ladies (and men too). As for drink driving - don't get me started.

Too many posts to comment individually but love reading them all.
Son cooking leg of lamb for dinner, he and his wife are staying with me until November when they emigrate to Austalia, she is Australian. Off to choir practice in a couple of hours.
Love being part of this community even though I don't post often, I read every day.

Just back from the hen do. It was a quiet affair, but had a nice time. I only spent £11.50, £10 on the 2 course menu and one soft drink. I had deep fried brie to start (nomnomnomnom!) and spinach & ricotta tortellini in tomato sauce for main. Very yummy. Think my friend enjoyed, some people went for a drink after but I decided to head back. Now on sofa in my pjs

Hi all!
Good luck to all those with exam takers, I don't envy them! Seems like such a long time ago now.
I am struggling to get into a routine at the moment, have finished uni for good nowI have signed up with a supply teaching agency so hope to get some work with them to tide me over with some money. I am really lucky though as I have got a teaching job to start in September for my NQT year. Some of my friends are finding it really hard to find teaching jobs. I'm in school tomorrow for some training, looking forward to it.
Had a lovely walk along the seafront today, perfect timing as it just started raining as we got back. Managed 11500 steps today! Lots of washing done and on the airer, bathroom and kitchen cleaned, soup made, food shopping done, bed changed, roast gammon cooked and lunches made for tomorrow.
Going to put PJs on in a minute and chill out for the evening. Got some episodes of The Bridge on the recorder so will watch another one tonight.
Hope everyone is ok, enjoy the rest of your eveningOfficial DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

Evening all,
Just a quick visit as will watch the Ireland/Croatia soccer in a minute or so....not really a fan but OH will only have tv to shout at if I stay here....will get some knitting done as I watch.
Pleasant day here, nicer as day went on....took clothes off line and put newly washed on airers, as to-morrow is meant to be a rotten day....how unusual.
Ham, cabbage and spuds for dinner, followed by gooseberry crumble and ice-cream....first gooseberries of year and we seem to have huge amount this year so will have to keep picking as weather allows.
I tend to ignore nasty remarks about women and money but was irritated by yesterday's posts....never been sure that poster is a real person anyway!
Hugs to all who are not feeling well, welcome to newbies, keep safe and stay well

Evening
DD No you are not the only one with Jekyll and Hide tendencies, I too think one day that being more frugal is good and the fact that we now only have mortgage is great, next day want to get loan to pay DDs uni fees, have the worlds longest new things for the home wish list and buy a new car!! One day....
Pleased to report that my SC lamb dish went down very well with the kids, they both said it was nice to have something so comforting on a wet windy day. Good news as there is more to come during the week. DW finished, kitchen given the once over, no washing today, bit of a lazy day, but its the calm before the storm really.
Sympathise with others whose DDs and DSs have exam both mine have one each tomorrow, DD will then have 3 left and DS 6, she is far more worried about hers and has done 100x more revision, but that seems to be the way it is with boys and girls.
Did smile at the hair colouring stories, I have recently started to colour mine to cover grey, still trying to find "right" colour and having fun trying. Not sure when time will come to stop but am not going to grow old gracefully.

Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.
