Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 10th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Woken up with a runny nose & violent sneezing this morning, not sure which I love most, a summer cold or the DGD's who gave it to me!
Hubby was less grumpy yesterday, partly because of the sun & partly because of the Canadian GP qually, the race is on today. As it's on at around teatime & he wanted something he could eat easily on a tray he probably realised he'd get his meal thrown at him if he carried on moaning at me.
It looks as though he has lots of overtime coming up as he'll soon be last man standing from a team of 4, one's just left, ones off sick & one's working his notice & no one will be replaced 'til September, & just for you DEL, I shall still be paying MY half of all the bills even though it means selling everything that isn't nailed down. Me? Annoyed? Never, certainly rattled my cage didn't he.
I have more stuff finishing on ebay today & should make another £15 & I've sold another blanket via my blog & received payment via Paypal, I shall post it of on Monday after work.
I'm making Jerk chicken for lunch today & a batch of twinks to take to work tomorrow for the team as we'll need cheering up.
Have a good day everybody.
Hugs Hester

Morning :hello:
Hope you've all sharpened your toenails:rotfl: The only money I bring in at the moment is from egg sales and the odd handmade card. I was at the kitchen sink the other day, doing some handwashing while wearing a long skirt and I was barefoot. Am I letting the side down? :rotfl:
We opened a bottle of elderflower champagne last night. Just as well we used strong bottles, it popped like champagne and I had to use two pint glasses to catch it as it fizzed outWe're going to bottle more today, I'm a bit worried because we've only got normal bottles for this batch. Lots of showers for me, I expect
The tomato plants have suddenly decided to grow so they're looking good. Some of the pepper plants have died off, but mr tru's Dorset Naga is doing well, as is his other chilli plant (can't remember what it's called). That's the only bit of the greenhouse he cares about
I must catch up with your blog Hester, I haven't read it for a couple of weeks.Bulletproof0 -
Morning Hester and all who follow,
Been wide awake since 4am, came downstairs and made a cuppa then watched Chelsea flower show for an hour, got three more to watch yet!:rotfl:
Had a lovely morning yesterday at Sissinghurst, then went for lunch at a garden centre that does fab food. Pottered about in the garden, everything is a bit battered (like me!) my runner beans were looking so good, now sad, hope they recover:o
Going to DD's today with a friend. We are going to tackle the house while she is away, she isn't coping well. Hopefully the pills and holiday will help her.
I've got some Loyd Grossman pasta for one in the cupboard (Approved foods) so think I'll have that tonight.
Enjoy your Sundays!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Good morning Hester and all,
sorry to hear the chords of discontent are still rumbling in your household Hester. My man got easier to be around as the day progressed i'm glad to say..... still looking forward to Monday when he goes off to work though. Unfortunately for him he's been working away too long and i'm used to having my own space (and not being moaned at).
I noticed in your blog you were selling everything that wasnt nailed down to make up the shortfall in your wages. To be honest ive been doing that for months..... All my beautiful Chanel makeup (unused obviously) got flogged on Ebay, my beautiful clothes no longer fit me as i lost weight and they got flogged on ebay too. Designer sunglasses went too. Not to pay the bills but to pay for things for our son and the house needed a serious revamp. I own practically nothing now but dont feel any the worse for it. I could do with a few more dresses but that will come given time.
Did most of what i intended to do yesterday... well all but the grocery shopping. By the time i'd walked round our local shopping centre looking for clothes for my youngest and undies for me i'd had enough.
I also made a monumental decision yesterday.... I'm sick of the colour build up from colouring my hair so much to cover the grey.... I'm going grey gracefully. Spent an hour last night with product on my hair and a bag over my head to strip the colour out of my hair. Well it was fairly successful and i'm amazed how grey i am. Oh well, no good crying about it.....Embrace the change!. I think i am going to need a couple more treatments to get all of the colour out but i'll get there.
Plan for today, cat litter from T*sco and grocery shopping. Good that the sun is shining,
Hugs and sending you all lots of sunshine as its beautifully sunny here. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi all
Not at all Tru, I was annoyed at the sweeping generalisation that our hubby's moaned because we spend their money. Neither of my DD's work outside the home, but they work full time bringing up children. Hubby & I, our children are grown & flown, there is just the 2 of us.
I've made another £11 & have 2 more items finishing in a couple of hours.
Hugs Hester

Said poster needs to flush his head down the toilet. I have never forgiven him for openly admitting to drink driving:eek::eek::eek:
Ok OS - not much recently as I have been very stressed and under the weather regarding the changes to my benefits. Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning everyone
Sun is shining here :j:j so as i was up early to take DD to work for 6.30am have put WM on to make the most of the sunshine.
Had a nice productive day yesterday, friends came round to discuss the fundraising we are going to start to raise money for a defibrilator for my sons school and for the Intensive Care Unit at Birmingham Childrens Hospital after my son was in there for 6 days, very exiting all this planning:T:T:T. Managed to clean, wash and dry clothes, walked new puppy and then bathed her as she was a bit smelly, did grocery shopping so very productive.
Think today will be a little more restful, may try and cut the grass and tidy the borders in the front garden.
Hope everyone has a lovely day and the sun is shining where you are.:):)Debts to deal with Cap 1 £3996.83 £3923.43 (0%), Next £1252.21 £1211.85 (0%) Very £294.88 £282.64, Studio £266.11 £256.11 (0%), Halifax card £277.17 £466.01:mad:0 -
Morning!
Was feeling carp yesterday afternoon - had a bout of food poisoning due to some underheated HM soup_pale_ which was worrying as we're off to the seaside today! I didn't sleep last night at all but am feeling a lot better today:T:j
The sandwiches are made and am just filling the flask. We have some Weathersp**ns vouchers to use so should be able to eat out a few times too:)
Judi - well done on going grey :T I also dye mine a lot and am pretty grey under it if not completely white(hereditry in our family) I'll be very interested to know how you get on! I decided I didn't wnat to be grey/white before I got to 50 so I've about 4 years to go!:D
Molly (((hugs))) hope you soon feel better(and I agree re the drink driving:mad:) x x x
Have a lovely day all, take care x x xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning everyone,
Hope you feel better soon Taplady
Hugs to Molly, Hester and LW.
Judi I have quite a few grey hairs and so far have done nothing about them!
I am back from a stormy week in Devon, we had some lovely days and and some wet days and one incredibly stormy day, i have never seen waves like it, thank goodness we weren't in a tent.:D
I am reading in church this morning and then I am spending the rest of the day washing!
I will have time to have a cup of tea with a friend and nag DS about his revision though.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

absolutely ! i put him on ignore after that as I didnt want to read anything more from him .
been up with toothache in the night and i can touch a really sensitive part on my tooth, so will have to ring the dentist tomorrow
going to a relatives for lunch today , have got a bottle of wine to take and picked up a lovely box of choccies yesterday in home bargs
DDs are staying at home to revise , DD1 has a psychology exam tomorrow and DD2 has maths i think on tuesday - poor things
hope everyone has a lovely sunday0 -
Morning all
Hester - good luck with the money making!
The sunshine has done a runnerso glad I got my 5 loads of washing on yesterday! Not raining yet, but looks like it will soon.
I'm off to a hen do today, who has a hen do on a Sunday?! :rotfl: Meeting at half1 at posh restaurant for lunch and then drinks. I've decided to take the car though, as I can't really afford to drink plus don't want to have to take Monday off work cos of being hungover! The bride-to-be won't mind though. Think a few people are driving. Luckily, despite it being a posh restaurant they do a good lunch deal of 2 courses for a tenner
OS wise - dishes to wash, laundry to put away, dinner will be from the freezer.
Have a good day all
