Def not! Might throw out a few choice items though!!;) (not considered clutter at the mo lol)
Ahem.
I read a good tip in one of Don Aslett's decluttering books about not leaving stuff in your clutter that will scandalise your heirs. Unless, of course, you would like to scandalise them...........:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

 Sooo, have you had to clear up the home and other affairs of a relative and friend, and did the clearing cause you to have changed feelings towards that person?
Yes I have - and it changed my view of them for the worse
1) It made me cross that they thought I'd have nothing better to do with my time
2) It made me feel that they didn't really know me - I have some very obvious hoarder traits and they should have recognised this and not put so much temptation in front of my eyes
3) They should have known that I wouldn't have the willpower to just get the local charity shop in to do a clearance (how I wish I had!)
4) It made me sad that we couldn't have said "let'd get this sorted while we are not too emotionally involved" at a time when we both younger and had more time and energy and able friends who could have pitched in
For anyone who is "planning" (haha!) to leave their younger family to sort it all out - just bear in mind that it may not come at a very good time for them - yes they may well be prepared to do it in principle, but what if it comes when they need to support DS though A levels, or moved off to Uni, or when your GD is having a baby, or when they are about to undergo an op themselves, or just when they are putting an offer in on a new house - what will they do, put your legacy of needs first and prioitise your hoard first, or put their own first and feel guilty and risk throwing the baby out with the bathwater by getting houseclearance people in and accidently clear some real gems that you would have liked them to have?Unless, of course, you would like to scandalise them...........:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
What, like Come Dine With Me where there are some obvious posed "finds"?
There is nothing in my home that I couldn't offer my vicar for the church sale ... he is broadminded anyway after the find of an elephant posing pouch in clothes donated for the homeless! You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
Bump!
I've been following this thread with great interest, and was surprised it had dropped down to page 3 :eek:0 -
Hi Ivy, I've been busy working and also caring for DD, so haven't had anything to report. Was going to do something today but just too tired. I think we all may be in a bit of a slump after the intital enthusiasm, but I hope this thread continues because it's what's motivating me right now.0

DH & I removed 2 packed car loads of stuff from the garage yesterday - I'm not sure it counted as a hoard but it was a lot of stuff! It's amazing how much better it felt to get rid of it even though lots of food stocks came to take it's place - it is much better organised and I can actually see parts of the floor which is always a good sign. The garage needs more work so that I can get to all the edges as I have various presents on shelves and I'm unsure exactly what I've got.
I think that last sentence may have made me sound more like a hoarder!0 -
I've been deep cleaning my living room. I can't say it's a fun way to spend my time...0

Same here, Although I am starting to see a real difference in the house, it looks quite a bit cleaner and tidier than it did a few weeks ago.
There is still a long way to go, but Dh did comment that he had noticed that a lot more stuff is going out than is coming in :T.
I am taking a small bag of new cosmetics/hair stuff to take to my parents tonight to be shared amongst my sisters.
And I have a bag of things for the charity shop that I am trying to add to daily.
I still have a few bits on ebay that are selling well, however I have a large parcel that sold last weekiend that STILL hasn't been paid for  that is sat on my kitchen table, I just want it gone now.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

I have just had a small flurry sorting through a few clothes and being ruthless...if I've not worn something in 2 years and I look at it and think I won't feel comfortable wearing it now, then off to the CS.0

Well done Byatt, that's exactly what DH and I need to do but I don't feel up to tackling the Wardrobe of Doom yet.0
