I feel a bit low. I have got rid of quite a bit over the last fortnight, but I am still stepping over stuff and losing stuff and not finding things because of stuff. All I can say is, this is no excuse to stop and if I keep going it will keep getting better.
Well, allow yourself to acknowledge your progress, and this is just the start. Tomorrow's another day.
Maybe it is time to go to to bed - it is late and that 'tired and middle of the job' feeling is not a great mix for feeling energised and on top of it all and up beat.
I think I need to tke my own advice ZZzzzzzzz night all.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Sybil, it's exactly the same for me, and my low moments usually come at this time of night as I yet again trip over something on the way to bed. It will get better, it's hard to see it though at times. Maybe have a short break from decluttering, sometimes a day or so is enough. Or even a few hours. It's a cliche but it's taken a long time to get to this level, so it's not going to change in just a couple of weeks...the extra time it takes is due to the emotional baggage we carry, and it would be so much simpler if we could just chuck things.

    Tomorrow is another day... :)

No I haven't - I'll look it out on YouTube! Sometimes I wonder if the reason I can't find a man is that I subconsciously don't know if I can live with one again, let alone all the "stuff" they come with :p

Stop! Stop, I think we should all stop what we are doing and watch this clip, I had forgotten it is also about hoarding old clothes that don't fit - the whole thing is hilarious and so relevant (with apologies to those who don't have a computer!)

    Welcome new joiners, everyone welcome

schoolrunmum - I love that you respected your MIL's wishes

Spiky - I think you may need to gently bring up the need for change with your widowed friend, in general terms

I am glad I now know what de-richarding is, I thought it was ridding the house of all the stuff an ex called Richard left behind and had been wondering about de-Alan-ing!

Another garden plant buyer...in my defence it's very wet out there. :o

Spiky, well done, :T Do you think your friend was not so much shocked at the change in an unaccepting way, but could she have thought, wow, this looks great, I need to do something at mine.

That could well have been part of it, she did ask where I got the units from.

She's said she wants to make changes, but lacks the physical & emotional energy so often. I've introduced her to Flylady concepts & she's got my copy of Marla's book Sink Reflections. I know she won't talk to many people about how she is, & I've been stressed out with work & home so it's been difficult for me to support her as I want to.

You know this is important i think. It is very important aspect of humanity to help when we can. Its alao important to know our limits and boundaries.

Atm i have had to tell my parents ( in the process of separating) that i cannot get involved in conversations about npone to the other. I don't want to and although i am adult and accepting its still not my ideal to have separated parents. I feel reasonably stressed on their behalf about practicalities, like selling their house and one of them buying another one, storing their stuff etc. plus a good friend is going through a less pleasant separation wich for practical purpose i am helping ( storing a departure stash, babysitting) and being a shoulder to cry on. Plus, althou i am ashamed to admit it the building stuff is worrying me and i had a minor health scare this week...yesterday someopne asked a big favour from me and i had to sa 'i need to think about it' and i will almost certainly have to say 'no'. We have limits to the persnal resource we can give away, even to people we want to help, so if unable to b e a support for a friend, sometimes, sometimes, that happens.

Who was it talking about wool and yarn? I just found a bag of the stuff.....and i cannot knit to save my life, serioiusly its one of things i just cannot do. My guess is this is stuff my mother has catflapped to me so that she doesn't have to face the fact it is her unfinished project.

I have have just astonished myself by listing a desk on fleabay:A. And a top I bought online a few months back that didn't suit me.

I'm now thinking, do I really need that other large table in the corner of my room for my 'craft' that I never actually sit there and do...and what about that bike in the attic I never use that is as new...

Wow BB, getting rid of the big stuff! I'm so impressed. (Also glued to the sofa with a poorly daughter).

After a few days away, I have managed today to clear a pile of paperwork from ontop of the microwave. All thrown away or put in its rightful place.

DH filled a bin bag of rubbish from upstairs as well :j

Tomorrow, I want to clear the kitchen pin-board, clear the last small pile of paperwork from the kitchen table and put some more items on ebay.

Just managed to catch up with all the posts in the last few days, and wanted to say a big "well done" to all that has been achieved.
