Operation Dining Room:
I need to get the dining room cleared and sorted for Christmas!
I thought i would write down all the bits that I achieve along the way as I have to sort and tidy when my health allows.
Today:
Duplo boxes emptied into plastic crate and boxes in recycling :T
Easter eggs (hand made) upstairs and put away in cupboard:T
Cutlery set put in box but still needs a permanent home
Board games sorted - 2 into DS3 bedroom and 3 still on dining table:o
Kitchen Aid (unused and still in box from 2 years ago) lifted into kitchen. Now needs unpacking and using:eek: (i know....I got used to using a hand mixer)
Onwards......I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Afternoon ladies!
It's almost a week until my bin goes and it's FULL.
This morning I went to the beautiful city of bath with my mother, who was offering to my me this and that and I said....nope, nope, nope.
I dithered over a curtain panel...but they only had one left and where I want to put it I would have needed six...so then I was wondering where I could have that one, then thought.....I don't need it.. I can buy some lace, dye it this colour and trim voile or muslin with it if I really want something similar.
I did buy some very expensive flannel bedding. I watched the ones I loved at toast on line hoping to buy them in the sale, (could never justify new full price) but they sold out too quickly.. When I saw these I decided to get them as I like them. It's not quite perfect...I had to buy a fitted sheet and duvet cover as they didn't make flat sheets....I would usually buy two flat sheets and two pillow slips....am I the only person to do that?
So, now I am back AND I am not wiped out, hurrah, so I am having a cuppa then going to make the bed and then maybe star the spare bed clean up!0 -
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I'm sorry I dropped in and dropped off again quickly, but thank you for making me feel welcome, and extra thanks to Thriftwizard and Byatt for your eBay help! I've not had chance to get on too much since, but will spend some time catching up, I've made excellent progress with helping my family member get more organised, although there is quite a bit of 'churning' (I think it's called?) going on!
I have an ENORMOUS pile of things to eBay, and am actually ready to put my first lots on this evening! Wish me luck!

Hi All,
Just popping in to share a small but significant success for me today.....
I have been slowly de-richarding over the last few months and am seeing progress, although it is slow, HOWEVER, this morning I popped to T3scos for a ream of A4 paper that I have been putting off buying and when I realised that they had none on the shelf, I WALKED OUT OF THE STORE! I have never managed to do this before, always thinking "well, while I'm here..." but not today:j.
Keep up the good work everyone,
Alice

Well so far this week I've done a good job of ignoring the house! I did go to primark yesterday for bits and bobs and other that a skull patterned blouse for eldest dd (that I knew she would love) I didn't stray from my list any further which is REALLY good for me!
I done a pile of ironing today. I struggle to declutter and get through the day to day stuff too! But when I was doing the ironing, any stained school shirts that I knew I couldn't get the stains out of went in the bin. (I know I'll never get round to bleaching them) I also need to make a point of getting rid of any pjs that dds try on and are too small. To make way for the Xmas ones that I KNOW they will get!
OH did put his collection of 'now' CDs on gumtree, but at a price of £75, there has been no interest, and its almost pointless trying to make him understand they are only worth pennies!
My plan tomorrow is not to declutter but to do much more ironing as its something I ALWAYS have a pile of taking over my kitchenNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -

On a slight tangent, every so often I see a bag I like, but since I found the perfect bag for me ( a healthybackbag) which I absoltuely love I know I don't need any other bag. So I never allow myself to get into the dilemma of 'should I or shouldn't I'. It's just no.
I do have one other bag I've had 4 yrs and is the only one I didn't get rid of when I got my perfect bag: it's a lovely pink suede monsoon handbag that I rarely use but gives me great pleasure to look at as I hang it decoratively from our picture rail in the bedroom.
I do find removing kibble (Grey Queen, I love that word) comes in waves for me. Having done nothing much for a while, I am now itching to get some stuff to the dump but annoyingly won't have the car until next Tuesday I think. Damaged frames/glass broken/lamp that doesn't work/arms from desk chairs, odd leads for I don't know what/old trolley frame, rotten fire surround etc.
Today I have finished one 'making project' that was a (longterm) commission which is long overdue and can leave the house at the weekend now:j after 18 months waiting to be finished I also contacted someone else offering another finished project to a relatives child for xmas so hopefully that will soon be gone having hung around for several years for want of me doing a titchy bit of finishing off:j.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

DH asked if he could recycle a pile of mags that have lived in a pile near the wardrobes for a long long time. I really wanted to go through them and cut out receipes etc but resisted somehow and said after some hesitation "ok". I realise now there were craft mags in there I really wanted but unless I can get to grips with the clutter, I have no time for crafting. Proud of myself. I will aim to get rid of at least one thing tonight, hopefully the one thing idea will lead to a whole carrier full but baby steps right? I'm on a mission!!
It's the change in thinking that you are demonstrating that is key - it will help you let go of stuff that is getting in the way of the life you want, and stop new stuff coming in for the same reason.
Do people think the question we should ask of every item in our homes should be:
'Does this make my life better right here right now or does it get in the way of the life I want'?I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
