Is there anyone you could get to sort the lego for you? Even if you offered them £100 to do it you'd still have £400 for yourself when it sold and you wouldn't have to deal with it, freeing you up to not be sidetracked by that and have a few "easy win" declutter sessions.
Ikwym about the mindless chucking, there are times like that and I think that's the time to take a break. Not thinking about it now can lead to dwelling on it and wondering "what if..?" later. Yes, lots of it is rubbish but I think it's still really important to acknowledge what's leaving the space.
Not that I'm a believer in being sidetracked by finding the perfect place for things to go. I know I donated stuff that was worth a decent amount of cash and it was cash we could have done with. But when I'd made the decision for something to go it became worthless and I just had to get it out of the house.
Hope you feel better soon.0 -
Yes, I am both keen to get dericharded, but because of slow progress demotivated.
We have created a couple tip runs worth of stuff again, so that might go on the list for the weekend, as it will feel big.
Dh did a 'GOOD JOB' last weekend of clearing the floor space of the spare room soon to be bathroom, but he showed it in our ninth square, also part of the will be a bathroom, so a bit frustrating.
We also desperately have to insulate or attic. For various reasons we cannot have a company in to do it on a grant and I am aware we keep shifting repsonsibility for finding out cheapest provider of insulation on to each other, that really should be done by now, but I think the issue is neither of us really know where to start looking.0 -
Most of the stuff we have left for decluttering involves some kind of input from DH, so that makes it harder to get on with it.
I really want to revamp our bedroom, apart from our new bed it is all mismatched furniture and grotty carpet. It is too expensive for us to do right now though so I am kind of sulking about that. I have set my heart on a particular set of furniture from M&S, mainly because I have never had new furniture. We grew up with handmedowns always. Even our very nice 3 piece is from relatives.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Do a post on the DIY forum, or will it need to be done for you?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Thank you white wing,...I have done just that on your suggestion.0

Morning all
De richarding is exhausting. I have about 7 things on ebay at the moment and they are consuming my every waking thought at the mo!
I need to do my clothes- they are screwed up in huge balls in the wardrobe and they need sorting for ebay, turfing for CS and folding and loved! I live in leggings, skinny jeans, or leopard print anyway so all the "yes I will be feminine and wear that kimono jacket/floral entity/blousey thing" isnt going to happen!
I am off to the hairdresssers this afternoon to derichard my barnet! It was bright red and Ive been stripping it so its now salmon/coral and unruly! Im hoping they will highlight it but they appear to just shake their heads and do the sucking in of air workmen favour when youve had a go at something yourself!! Anyway I am intending to lose about 5 inches so *gulp* feeling brave and nervous
I am now going upstairs where Le Prof is "working from home" to see if I can politely suggest that he offers to look after Baby Girl while I go to the hairdressers ALONE. She is knacked and will happily play/watch a film/fall asleep. Otherwise I must make her a picnic and a HUGE bag of entertainment for an afternoon in the hairdressers in her buggy!!! *roll eyes*Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

There's just something that goes against the grain about giving someone else good money to do something I can do and would actually quite enjoy. I'd rather give someone £100 to to some cleaning while I sat and played with the Lego, lol. Unfortunately no spare £100 sitting around atm despite the contribution from Ikea yesterday, I'll just have to get on with it. Irritatingly though it's either going to have to sit in a heap of boxes in the hall till after the half term holiday as I simply don't have time atm, or I can move it up to the Attic of Doom, which is not a good idea as I'll then just conveniently forget about it for another couple of years.Val.0 -
I meant you'd give them £100 of the £500 you could sell the lego for! But it's irrelevant if you wouldn't do it anyway.0

val, bet if you started it in a communal area, everyone else would take over.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

How about a lego party? Or an OS meet where you take it all along to Ikea ...You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0
