If you want them out of the house then just get rid. You can do it guilt free as you tried to pass them on and there were no takers so now your willingness to do the right thing is holding you back. Say goodbye and forget about them.

Yes, I agree. They will go in for recycling anyway if you dump them so they'll still be useful.

The garden is starting to look a bit naked tbh...I am going to reward myself with that posh plum tree I've been thinking about once I've got that last load of dross out, I think. And I need a nice planter to fit over the manhole cover at the side of the lawn now that the sandpit that previously covered it is going. That can be my reward after I've got rid of some of the junk in the utility room. Does that seem fair? I know it seems a bit daft buying myself a new thing for getting rid of old things but it's on a ratio of about one new to fifty old!

Sounds very fair to me, especially as the new is not "clutter" but things that you actually want to make your garden a lovely place to be :j
  • Thanks for all the support guys, I will [STRIKE]ask[/STRIKE] tell :D DH that I will put them on freecycle now, if no takers by the end of the day - in the recycle box they go...one way or another I will reclaim my kitchen table!!

Darryl from the council came today at 07:30 to price up the job.

I showed him the front room and the pile of bricks and he almost laughed - there wasn't much there as far as he's concerned.

They're coming at 08:00 on the 12th to clear it all away for about £100.

    Can't wait!
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

Gingernutty - :T Yay, very good news :T

Just messaged DH giving him the option of putting magazines in the loft if he really wanted to keep them, his answer was "Freecycle them now!, Lets get rid of them"!
    So that's just what I'm doing...:D
EDIT: posted on freecycle, I really mean business today!

Been to dump, couldn't be bothered to go to Lidl (nothing that can't wait till tomorrow tbh) and put the last of the garden junk in the car. I had one last look round the garden, there may be more but it can wait till the climbing frame is out of there and the lawn is clear as there's bound to be a few things hiding in dark corners. I looked round the greenhouse as I was watering the tomatoes, it needs a sort out and declutter but it can wait another month until the last of the plants have stopped cropping and I need to scrub down the glass anyway. Which will please the resident spider, a huge brown speckled beast about the size of a £2 coin. I don't mind spiders at all and she's built a magnificent web right across the main air vent so no wonder she's fat.

I am just flitting in to say car has a dining chair, a filing cabinet, a dressing table stool and a box of cluttery office stuff, filing stuff etc in it, and still more to go...

Some thinking happening, but I try and stop it before it gets too far...

Well done Ginger, you won't know yourself! and Molly and everyone else...xxx you're all inspirational.

I have washing billowing in the sunshine, and I have done a quick tidy up but other than that I am working today. Decided to tackle the emotional decluttering tomorrow when DH is around. He will help the perspective, and also do the bulky stuff.

There is a drawer and cupboard in the kitchen that is cluttered with man bits, so I am hoping he will look at that.

I think that will all be enough for this week, along with the housework and our jobs and children.

That is great. Is anyone decluttering small stuff. I need some lil richard stories to keep me focused on mine. I have no big spaces to reclaim!

I am. I did my massive huge breakthrough declutter about 8 years ago. Had another go when we moved house 2 years ago and am dealing with all the things that there was no good reason to get rid of or I thought was too sentimental now.

A lot of the stuff I chucked, or arranged to chuck from the garage yesterday was stuff I thought had already gone but DH had put into the garage because he hadn't had time to dump it and lots of useful household stuff.

Yesterday I got rid of all the bubble wrap the new rabbit pen came in. The pen is 8 feet long so there was a lot and it was all useable. However, I have never in my life used bubble wrap so it's useless to me and was taking up space that could be freed up to hold nothing at all or even a car. I also sorted out lots of tins of paint and things that would hang around for years as there's no good reason to get rid of them. But there is a good reason and that is they will never be used!
