I did do well today! I was in primark and managed to walk out with not one thing! I was in a gift type shop and saw a mug I really really loved (wouldn't be everyone's taste). But again, refrained!
Well done!! You didn't buy anything in either shop:T:T:T.
OK, next question...:D why were you in Primark/gift shop at all? Seriously, is it just habbit -you are in town so you always go into Primark etc. Often, I think going into town at all is the root of our clutter problem. If you don't need anything, try not to go. Or if you need one tiny thing, write a list as you go and wait til there are 10 things on it and go in then. Tick off each item as you go and then leave!
Beware the 'I didn't know I needed it until I saw it in a shop' buying habbit.
I avoid the ice cream tub dilemma by never buying ice cream:D:A. Ice cream for us is a complete treat a couple of times a year, in the form of a lolly.
Not doing any decluttering at present, totally and utterly absorbed by the olympics.
Loved your wardrobe and drawer organisation Jojo. Fairly similar to mine. For summer, I have:
3 pairs trousers,
1 x shorts,
2 x dresses
7 x tops
5 x cardigans, (too many I think)
I x pair of trackie bottoms plus 2 x tops and zipped velvet trackie top
and that's it, 22 items. And I think that is 3 items too many;I may get rid of them at the end of this season. No black.
I am fortunate l that I dont have to have loads of uber smart stuff for work so can wear smart causal I would wear at home.
There are only 7 days in a week and I wash clothes weekly: I wouldn't have time to wear anymore than I own.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
I think the 'container issue' shows the good side of us (though not in a productive way). We see the possibilities, the opportunities, we look at things in creative ways.
I realised a while ago that if I need eg a plant holder I will look and search and plot and use just about anything than a designated plant holder bought from a shop. I will use cartons or old plates or upside down frisbees - but nothing so dull as a purpose made, sold for the purpose plant holder. I am trying to train myself to just buy a dratted plant holder. It isn't really working.
Just rinsed through a few blankets today, with a view to getting rid.
Byatt - in case you are reading, hugs!
Edited to add - I love, love, love Grimm, and I want a Monroe! Also have had some extremely improper thoughts about the police captain. Watching it for the second time around and I will definitely get the dvd as it is already on pre-order.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

I don't actually often go into town which was the reason I looked. In primark coz bar the visit to one when we were away last week when it was necessary to pick up some bits for middle dd I rarely get the chance to go
The gift shop we were just passing and it had pretty stuff in it! We weren't there for the shops, we were there to see the street performances.
Another day with nothing coming in the house even though we were at the butterfly farm earlier. I refrained from letting the kids get a keepsake (it's only up the road from us we really don't need a keepsake) although I was very very very tempted to order bits from next sale as they had gotten more stuff back in. (OH told me NO MORE CLOTHES) I even tried to convince him to let me by adding some bits for him, he didn't fall for it, lolNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. Me again...another thing I threw out today....teeth! I had about 6 teeth in my jewellery drawers (seem to have lost 4 as eldest dd has lost 8 and middle 2)
Didn't know whose were whose or anything......does anyone keep teeth???
I kept all my DS's teeth as he lost them, and still have them in a pill box in my bedroom. I sometimes think it's a bit weird, lol, and have thought of getting rid of most of them, and just keeping the first one that he lost, which is in a separate compartment.blossomhill wrote: »Morning everyone
I realised this morning how I had managed to change my thinking to stop saving tubs and other disposables, so here it is in the hope it will help someone else
My new way of thinking;
Standing at sink with an empty plastic container that strawberries came in ...- this looks good, wonder what it could be used for?
- strawberries ... perfect for strawberries...just strawberries
- have eaten all of them
- haven't got any strawberries to put in it so it goes straight in bin
- (block my mind from thinking about it further and move on and do same with empty yog pot)
- will progress to just putting in bin as last strawberry eaten instead of putting with things to be washed
Did you know that if you put so much paper through a shredder it can actually heat up and automatically cut off until it has had chance to cool down again.....:o:whistle:
Still shredding 2010 bills and I fear they go back a lot further but I refuse to build another pile next to the shredder so the small room will be left till the current shedding mountain is disposed of. I'm trying to do it a few at a time so it doesn't seem too onerous
That happened to me a few times, when I finally started to sort through all the bags of paperwork I had in my bedroom, lol! I had so many full bags that we couldn't have the heating on in there, as they were all in front of the radiator, thankfully it has all now been filed/shredded/recycled, and I keep on top of the paperwork now as I quite like being able to walk around the bedroom without falling over stuff, lol!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

:T4 wheels gone out of the garage - OH eBayed them and the guy collected yesterday so that's good.
We now have a little more room in there (apart from the 3 motorbikes, petrol lawnmower, rotavator, 2 bicycles, chest freezer, air generator thingy for air tools, engine crane... I could go on)
Am away on a work thing today / tonight / tomorrow then heading to see my folks in the west country so that will be lots of things out of the house which I need to take for the family. The downside is that my AF order will be coming back with me
Oh yes and I blame you lot - we had jelly and ice cream yesterday "to use stuff up". I thought of you all whilst eating it :rotfl: so that's one more thing out of the cupboard and one more thing out of the freezer (and an ice cream container which WILL come in useful when I forage blackberries)

I have just got an AF delivery.
Canned tomatoes with garlic put away neatly as were the jars of sauces, chicken stock cubes, stir fry sauces and the veg gravy mix. I could probably rival GQ for tinned tomatoes.
Everything going well till I realised the size of the bag of batter mix! !
I have over half a stone of the stuff!
Managed to rearrange the cupboards so could put the mix in two clearly labelled large plastic containers and am determined to use it up. Thought of using it for pancakes, yorkies, sauces etc - basically like a sort of enriched plain flour.
Anyone got any good ideas?"This site is addictive!"
