The bottom is not an event, its a process so a trader tells me.
They can only take property if it can be used by them. Shares are more liquid0 -
Im pretty sure that if you buy somewhere in Spain they come along and disconnect your water and then bulldoze your villa. Ive seen it on homes from hell.0

I find that approach interesting.
I love being British, and the UK is a great country.
But I've lived and worked all over the world.... And will do so again.
There are a lot of great places to live elsewhere, and a lot of great places to live here. But I think everyone should try to live overseas for a while if they have the opportunity. It's an immensely educational experience.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I suppose if you had someone with a little vision and who was creative there is now an opportunity for some.
There are whole estates of good quality housing in the sun, if broadband was of a decent level then there is no reason why many could not be working from there.
i thought you said before that you had already spent many years working abroad. make your mind up.0 -
To buy some very cheap Spanish properties?
I was watching an Estate Agent in Spain saying that previous brand new properties selling at EU250,000 are now available at EU114,000!!
With the £ very strong .... these are absolute bargains, surely?
We are talking quality properties here, not the type that chavs visit in summer .... but sat in a Golf Course.
Anyone tempted? I don't invest in oversea's property - but can see some opportunity.
You quote "selling at EU250,000" but that is the whole point, they were not selling at €250k and nor are they worth anywhere near €250k.0 -
This article suggests that waiting is the best policy:

I do think it funny that all that pr*ts that went down there several years ago seem to be trying to return0

It's not only in Spain where property prices have dropped dramatically.
Same thing is happening all over Europe i.e. Bulgaria's market has crashed and properties are being sold by owners who are prepared to take big losses just to get out. Over there the only people who are buying are Russians, and they are really driving selling prices in a downward spiral.
Personally with the way things are right now, the eurozone is a minefield and I wouldn't consider buying abroad. Instead if I wanted to spend time in Spain, Italy, Eastern Europe etc I would simply rent (as these rates have also decreased) and enjoy myself without the worry of also paying maintenance charges, utilities, council tax, management fees plus all the other expenses incurred.0 -
In my opinion the euro is doomed so why don't they get on with it close it down sooner rather than later then we can all get back to normal.0

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
