I'd rather have a house sitting on a golf course.....0 -
They will get even cheaper. Far bellow building costs. To buy some very cheap Spanish properties?
I was watching an Estate Agent in Spain saying that previous brand new properties selling at EU250,000 are now available at EU114,000!!
With the £ very strong .... these are absolute bargains, surely?
We are talking quality properties here, not the type that chavs visit in summer .... but sat in a Golf Course.
Anyone tempted? I don't invest in oversea's property - but can see some opportunity.0 -

You'll need to factor in being surrounded by lobster coloured overweight people smoking cigars and wearing Andy Pandy trousers whilst pointing out how much they purchased their property for on a daily basis ... suddenly they don't look that good value???

So your advice to UK residents right now is to buy into Spanish property, NOW of all times.

The Spanish property market will turn at some point.
As I understand it the Cajas (Bankia) own lots of reposessed properties.
Maybe now that they have secured funding they'll be able to sell these off & take the loss without going bankrupt.
This could mean a further drop in prices before the inevitable recovery.
I'm not brave enough.....yet!0 -
Not for me, but others might differ:

Glad to see the Guardian becoming bullish again on property, following Collinsons recent endorsement of BTL as a better alternative to traditional pensions.0 -
The big risk must be that those properties are priced in the Euro.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

I thought Collinson has always been pro BTL as an investment. So the pensions article was of no great surprise.0 -
I would never leave the UK under any circumstances, I just love my country too much. But there are many(48%) who would jump at the chance to emigrate.
I suppose if you had someone with a little vision and who was creative there is now an opportunity for some.
There are whole estates of good quality housing in the sun, if broadband was of a decent level then there is no reason why many could not be working from there.0 -
