Got to admit , I do wonder how some people manage on such low grocery budgets ? Also , shrot of padlocking cupboards/ fridge I can't stop my 2 eating ??!
I stopped buying any kind of snacks / treats...... So they just ate all the fruit/yoghurts that were for lunches & constant bowls if cereal !!!
They can't really win poor kids :)

Yep, sounds familiar... also i feel guilty when they say 'Mum i'm hungry, what's to eat' and there's only a few stale biccy's in the tin :o
    Plus they're growing lads.
I really would love to see a few reciepts wouldn't you? I shop at the big A which generally comes out the cheapest. i even went round with a calculator down shifting the brands where i could. but take squash for example, you could buy the cheapest and have to use twice as much or go for the slightly more expensive and use less....:wall:
We eat really well and practically every meal is home cooked from scratch. DH wouldn't eat iceland food even though i've told him i'm sure it would work out cheaper than making from scratch but he's a real foodie and likes to know exactly what's going into it.

I know exactly what you both mean about food and growing teenagers. I bought a bread maker at the start of this journey following advice on here (got a real good deal on am@zon!) this helps enormously its got a timer so they come in to the smell of fresh bread the devour most of it as badly cut toast which is definitely cheaper than biscuits/crisps. I've also gradually started adding lentils to stretch mince dishes and curries and make enough to freeze extra portions. I just think its too time consuming when you work full time to shop in several different places each week just to get the cheapest of everything. I admire those who do manage it I'm clearly too lazy.........maybe I should stop reading and start doing :o
