virgin mobile are no help what so ever, i have registered a complain with phonepay plus today. but can anyone give any info on the text or company behind it and generally what the service the charge may be for as i can find nothing
.
number on phone bill for premium text is is 700140409

I think 0700 is a 'personal' number, not 'premium'.
    Some dodgy app I'd guess.

If you have an Android phone then it is likely you have a malware which can send out text messages and make calls. Search the Google for android malware . This was also reported by C4 in the news while back.
You will need to find the way to remove the dodgy app.

there's no 0 before the 7 on the bill, it now looks like another £5 has gone on in the last hour. as my account balance has just gone up another £5 ! the phone is a blackberry, there are no apps that look dodgy which have been installed around the 30th of may.. bit of a mystery

    I wonder what that now?
If it is a premium rate text, perhaps your lad has subscribed to ringtones or a game etc?

Either someone is dialling the number or one of the app is doing it.
The malware is less of a problem on BB.

well ive just spoken to virgin, and they confirmed they have been no outgoing texts to any sort of subscription service. so it looks like its just a clear scam sending premium texts.

Are you sure it was a sent text, not received?
If received, then see this thread: Charged £6 for 4 texts - and contact your provider to find out who is actually hidden behind this number.

Yes sorry it was a premium text received. Virgin have confirmed no text was sent that would have resulted in a premium text being sent to the phone.

They say only 1 has been received but I'm still holding my breath with that, as I know my bill said 12.99 this morning.

Thanks for the link, very familiar sounds exactly the same. I've set the phone to only recieve messages from people in the contacts list. I'm not sure if that will help though

This will not help as the phone will just ignore unwanted messages. You have to ask the provider to block them.

Ah well virgin won't block them or lower the credit limit to £1 (£40 is their minimum) my main interest was to see what the charges could be for but having read the link, I don't think I will ever find out.
