Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 9th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Went to Tesco yesterday, managed to only spend £20ish, didn't buy any meat as we'd stocked up at the butchers earlier in the week. We did buy a pack of smoked haddock, 4 fillets for £4 so we had 2 for tea with HG new potatoes & hubby had a poached egg on his & there are 2 fillets left for another day.
Hubby had to go in to work yesterday as there was a mix up with the shifts & no one knew who was doing what, he was only there for about an hour, thankfully I had my kindle with me.
When we got home we needed a cuppa, but the electricity was off so we had to wait another hour before it came back on.
The rain & wind have flattened one patch of potatoes so hubby will dig those out later.
By lunchtime today I shall be rich, well £25 richer at least, I have some items finishing on Ebay. I shall be glued to the pc hoping they do well as a couple of the items have quite a few bidders.
I'm making a batch of Curry in a Hurry paste from Memorygirls blog, I shall be freezing it down in small portions so I can make myself a veggie curry some days. I shall also make a cake of some sort to take to work on Monday, it will be the last one for a while.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all
The sun is shining :j makes a change after the torrential winds and rain of last few days here.
I've been MIA most of the week. My friend from Camp America was staying with me. On Tuesday I had my Jubilee tea party which was a great success and I had lots of leftovers which was either taken for lunch this week or frozen. On Weds night we went to the cinema, and on Thurs night we met another Camp America friend for dinner. We went to a lovely Japanese restaurant
and for a few drinks. Been a nice week. My friend came to work with me as she wanted youth work experience for her degree. Then last night another friend came over for a catch up and we made a bottle of wine disappear :rotfl:.
No plans for today yet. My friend who lives in Canada (the one who got married in the Bahamas) is back in the UK for 10 days :j so may possibly see her, but I know she has family stuff planned for weekend and we have made plans with her for Tues and Weds. So I'll probably just potter around the house today.
OS wise - WM on with the first of 4 loads of washing that need to be done, hoping the sunshine lasts all day!! Lunch/dinner will be from freezer. House mostly tidy, just need to put spare room in order. Dishes to wash, recycling to sort. BM to go on.
Have a fab weekend all

After a lazy day yesterday (baking, washing up, visiting sister, SM shop and nowt else) I'm working all afternoon, got to nip into town first to collect some trousers for DH. Making soup in SC for tea, HM bread (trying out dad's old bread maker), ice cream in the freezer.
Have a lovely Saturday, hope some of you have some sun!

Morning all,
Islandmaid so glad your dd got home ok, I had formulated a plan, I live about 20 mins 1/2 hr from Portsmouth, so was going to collect her and her boyf, she could have had the spare room, and boyf on the sofa, I know you would probably not want her to go to some mad woman on the internet
, but I know how I would feel if it was my dd
Beautiful day here, got the first of three loads in the wm, and I have the t-towels soaking in bleach, tomorrow is meant to be raining again, so need to make the most of the drying weather.
I need to visit the butchers today, and stock up, getting through more meat on my lc diet, but it seems to be working.
Not sure whats for dinner, will go and check my list. Need to hoover top to bottom, OH and DD can do half each, and I must tie my broad beans up again, they are shooting up so quickly :T
Have good days all xx0 -

Hi All,
İts a working Saturday but hardly any of the students have arrived. İ am sitting praying to the god of teachers that none of mine come!
Not much going on otherwise--i would go out celebrating the end of the year if i could drink but it looks like a night at home! DH is in fine form gossiping with all the parents but it all goes over my head as i cant follow a word!
We are off to a VW meet tomorrow which is one bright spot. İts a form of carboot for VW spares so i will be rummaging for my car(Larry)--its a 1973 1303s GSR of which there are only 90 examples in the world so i feel privilaged and take good care of 'him'.--its the original yellow and black beetle.
Right its my turn to make the tea! Take care and wishes for everyone's health and safety!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -

Hi Guys!
Hope everyone is well.
Its supposed to be dry here today, so OH will hopefully get the rest of the garden cemented as he's having to pay £7 from today each 24hrs:eek::eek::eek:The weather has been so bad that nothing really has been done. He is still going ahead with the pond???....anyway, as long as it looks ok and is low maintenance, then thats fine with me:D
Nurses were here at 7.30 this morning. Why do they come early at the weekends? At least Im done and dusted now till tea time.
WM and DW have been on and need to be emptied, also the floors downstairs need sweeping and mopping. Managed to buy some Astonish floor disinfectant last week from Amazon for £10 for 12 bottles including delivery.
All the kids are still in bed asleep and its very quiet here, but that'll all change once they're up:eek::eek::eek::eek: They can have breakfast that give me 15 minutes to do the chores, then I'll be happy;) Ex BIL is coming to collect niece later, so be nice to catch up with him and new partner.
Anyway, hope everyone has a nice day.
