Parking ticket on private carpark
Comments

Hello I've just read all of these which I'm a little more at ease, but can I please check, I got a ticket for £100 on the peel centre car park I'm stockport today, one which has been in the news and watchdog a lot. It's excel car parks. I thought it was free on a Sunday but obviously I was mistaken.... Do I need to pay this? Just worried that after all their recent bad publicity they may have a new enforcement that means Im screwed and need to cough up
is it best to ignore or send them the £1 that I owe them?
Thanks in adv xx0 -
Send them £1 if you want to cover yourself. Make sure you send a cheque endorsed "in full and final settlement of all liability to your Client".
But their enforcement department has been made redundant after a Superior court ruled in May that they have no right to form contracts with drivers or take them to court. So Excel and their sister company VCS are in total meltdown. Along, it seems, with most other companies. So I would just ignore them. Come to think of it, that is what I always do anyway...0 -
Hi Half_way, I copied the carpark owner into my second letter but they replied saying they couldn't get involved. I might try offering the 20p again or may just completely ignore them from here on in, if I can hold my nerve!!
Our solicitor is a personal friend and I wonder if I should ask him to send a letter telling them to take a hike?
Sounds like the car-park owner could deal with being sued for harassment on behalf of an agent acting on their behalf.
Get your solicitor to write to the landowner, copying in the Parking company asking for a full and final settlement of £500 for harassment, most likely they will pay up straight away.
Money in your pocket, and hopefully the landowner will sack the PPC0 -
I think I’ll keep quiet for now and see what happens next ...... watch this space!0

To be fair, if your solicitor is a personal friend and would do it for free, a letter from him telling them to shove it or face harassment proceedings would probably stop the parking scammers dead in the water. If you offered the landowner the missing money and they refused it then it's case closed.0

why not just go straight for the jugular, sned a letter saying that you may take action against the land owner for the actions of their agents, see what happens, then ask your friend to write. From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
Yes, might put the wind up them for using the cowboys. They wouldn't know the solicitor was a friend....0

Ive just found out that my husband spoke to our solicitor earlier and he is more than willing to send them a letter spelling out exactly what he thinks of their fine! I think the wording was a little more cryptic in the conversation! Lets see what happens next ...0
-
Make sure that the solicitor doesn't actually use the word "fine". As you should know, this demand for money is nothing of the kind. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Well it's been around 3 weeks since I last heard from them, solicitors letter sent just over 2 weeks ago and all has gone very quiet .....0
