Dont know if it'll work on your car, but try what it says on post 4 here
http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/index.php?threads/vauxhall-fault-codes-pedal-trick-test.202018/
Get any codes stored and look at the list in post 1 to see whats wrong.
I've had a main dealer tell me that the ECU needs an upgrade which they said they did. That didn't cure it.
I've also had various sensors etc replaced and that hasn't cured it either.0 -
Don't know if this will help, but on my Astra this light has come on twice since I've owned the car (7 yrs). Once when the ignition unit (rectangular shaped component that fits on top of the spark plugs) needed replacing, and again after I had a new exhaust and the clowns at the garage forgot to screw the emissions sensor back in on the new exhaust.
It seems to affect most Vauxhall models for some reason!
Pity Vauxhall won't do something about it. :mad:0 -
as ive told you DaveW007 on an angina 1.2 its usually the egr causes the light of doom, any decent garage should have equipment to read the code of your light and if it does come up as egr they should be able to actuate it to see if its jammed, this might free it off for a while or permanently but usually the best cure is a new egr valve they arent cheap but are best bought from vauxhall themselves and a garage should get it cheaper than you if they are in da trade, club0

Do you own a Vauxhall vehicle?
There appears to be a known problem with the "Emissions Warning Light" to come on and permanently stay on.
Vauxhall will not acknowledge that there is a problem.
On researching this it seems to affect Agila's, Corsa's and Vectra's. Not sure yet if other models are known to have this problem.
If you have this problem or have had this problem with your Vauxhall, please post details on this group http://www.facebook.com/groups/147791282022166/
I'm hoping that with people power we might be able to get Vauxhall to sit up and take notice.
Thanks.
The light usually comes on with an associated error code. It rarely comes on for no reason at all.
The light coming on is not a problem - its what causing it to come on you need to investigate further. Its not pleasant and i've recently spent £1400 on a customers Peugeot 307 that was coming up with Peugeots equivalent light.
I dont see what purpose setting up a vague Facebook group is going to achieve - better to address the underlying problem.0 -

Looking through bills etc relating to the fault. The EGR valve has been replaced along with various sensors at a later date. The ECU has also been reprogrammed too.
Each dealer and auto electrician I have spoken to have all told me it is quite common (pity the dealer didn't tell me that prior to purchasing the car).
Really do not know where to go now.0 -

Unfortunately, they plug it into a computer and replace what it says needs replacing. But if the problem is not a particular part, but is instead a broken wire some way before the part, they'll replace the part and then shrug there shoulders and say "hmmmf, they always do this", because they have no idea or clue on how to fault find.
I recall on Watchdog last year a young lady with brand new Citroen DS3, having pretty much the same problem, dealership replaced what the ECU said was faulty and then washed their hands of the problem.
Unfortunately this appears to have entirely disappeared from the internet.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

please stop writing this drivel on this engine the, egr is in a stupid place and easily blocks up now i could argue cheap supermarket fuel is the issue but in the case of these cars i just think its bad design in a bad position on the head
its straight forward to plug proper equipment into these vauxhalls and actuate the egr if its working you can physically hear it clicking if you stick your head under the bonnet, even you would hear it with your cloth ears if its clicking, if its not clicking its stuck and i advise changing it because the car will be easier to start and stop the light of doom glowing
we havent confirmed the problem on this simple car yet though because original poster hasnt been to a garage yet
cost of equipment for these cars for me was
£200 for a s/h acr4
£120 for the later vauxhall pod
hardly millions is it0 -

Isn't it the dealership that are claiming they don't know what's wrong?
Surely the f**king dealership will have the right equipment!? What is clearly and sorely lacking is anyone who knows what the f**k to do with it........“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I have been to the dealership. I took my car back after 3 weeks when the light first came on. The dealer didn't want to know as it isn't a fault and is common on all Agila's.
The dealer wouldn't repair the vehicle as they said it isn't faulty nor would they exchange the vehicle.
So much for the warranty I got with it.
I have been in contact with Vauxhall themselves and they don't want to know either.0
