3 dogs I am so sorry to hear that Alan's pain is not under control at the moment. I can say from experience how hard it is to see a loved one in so much pain and like you say feel so helpless. :(

I want to share my experience with mum with you, she started on a 10mg dose of slow release morphine and over time this has increased to 60mg twice a day. Each time it has been increased I agree as others say, she has been extra sleepy and confused but this does pass to some degree once she is used to the higher dose. And she still occasionally takes oramorph as a top up. And also as Celebrate says, it did cause her to hallucinate a bit at first but that also passed. It is not the only pain killer she takes and everyday she has the maximum dose of paracetamol you can take in a day and also takes a painkiller called gabapentin which she finds very helpful and that has also been increased lately, not sure whether that is particularly suitable for her because her problem stems from her spine and she gets a lot of so called nerve pain.

I hope that the right combination can be sorted for Alan asap, you are doing so well hun, wish there was something I could do to help. Always happy to chat by PM/phone. Love to you both x x

3dogs, I do feel for you. Watching the pain is the worst part. I've not said anything on here before but my mum has terminal cancer, its in her bones. The pain is so upsetting to us as no amount of drugs stop her wincing and she was tough, my mum so I know it must be agony. She's having up to 2 x 25 morphine slow release patches and oramorph/ liquid morphine as needed.

Heat patches can help - have you tried?

    Hows his eating?

You are doing an amazing job. Its hard and its horrible, but you, my dear are doing so well - he is so lucky to have you x x x x

So sorry to hear your mum is in the same position as mine Karen. My mum recently had a pain relief review at a local hospice and this has made the world of difference, has this been offered to your mum? Hugs to you both x x

which country are they in at the moment? i know lots of airlines that fly pets
    [/QUOTE]

They're in Portugal at the moment, as far as I know no commercial airline allows cats or dogs to transit into the UK by air from Portugal. think they can be shipped seperately with british airways cargo? But thinking of my doggies alone for days is not pleasant. So I'll have to wait till my parents come to visit me by car or some such. ;)

Just a thought... If anyone has any huggies little swimmers £2 vouchers left? If u spend £10 at boots on baby u get £2.50 off at ATM.
And the swimmers are £2.99 at mo. so 4 packs £11.96 minus coupons is ££3.96 then £2.50 off = £1.46 for all packs..
