Purdita, I have a little book, called 50 ways to kill a slug, and your DH is absolutely correct with the porridge oats. Here's what it says in my book:

    1. Scatter oat bran around your plants and wait for the slugs to eat it for breakfast.

    2. Oat bran is a favourite with slugs, but once eaten it expands inside them and their end is nigh - they have been known to literally explode.

    3. If all the bran has been used up killing slugs, treat yourself to a bluberry muffin for breakfast instead :rotfl::rotfl:
    Thanks Fudge2
I shall have to pay more attention to my DH in future.
I told him he was talking rubbish :D
I'll be out with my porridge oats tonight and maybe I won't need to go out early tomorrow morning armed with a pair of scissors to cut them in half with (I snipped several this morning)
Don't know that I'd fancy a blueberry muffin after seeing exploded slugs everywhere. Think I'll have weetabix instead :rotfl:

    Still catching up.

on a lighter note i am looking forward to a nice MAM gammon joint for my evening meal.

£4.00 is a lot but if you buy the following

    1 gammon joint = £4.00
    4 MAM packs at £2.00 each = £6.00
    - 5 Real Food MOC's
    - 4 Price Flop coupons
    Total = £1.00

For some reason all of the MAM products in my store are £2.00 each and not £2.50

When did I become so hard to please?! :D Before MSE, I'd have just thought "oh booger, bit of a waste" etc. now I complain every single time, be it for sub standard items or service.

It must be terrible for you what an ordeal :rotfl:I don't get them very often but always print in black & white as long as the barcode is clear there shouldn't be a problem.

I wish they would redesign them so you could turn the paper the other way up & get 2 on a page

Indeed it is:D I have started to organise myself:eek: got a folder for cc points receipts. price checked ones. ones not price checked:o:o:o

that would be too nice of them:rotfl::rotfl:

    Hahaha I had a reply!

"We are aware of a current shortage regarding the food magazine and are currently working to resolve this issue ASAP."

They want my address to send one out. Wonder if they'd send out a dozen or so so I can stock up haha

    purdy re. your slug problem.

encourage hegdehogs into your garden. we dug a hegdhog hole under the back fence, they will find it. no more slugs or snails in our garden now.

the hegdehogs(we have 3 regular visitors) are so sweet, but completely baffle my youngest (stupidest) cat. he knows it hurts if he trys to pat them, but he seems quite happy to follow them around the garden. he looks at me,then me as if to say "mum , what am i meant to do with it?"

We used to have hedgehogs, but I've not seen them for a while.
Wonder if it's because we have a dog?
I heard on the radio that slugs are a major problem this year due to the warm spring and the wet weather for the last month.
I found my hostas decimated today and these had slug pellets and egg shells round them :(
