That looks cheap compared to a broken head :D

You better be ready for some serious sanding ( or get handy with a blow torch)

Chemical paint strippers like Nitromors are very handy for those awkward corners where neither sander or blow torch are effective ( goggles, mask and gloves )

oooohhhh, I've got some of this somewhere. I bought it many years ago for another house I lived in that had a georgeous staircase that someone painted black  and I wanted it back to natural wood, had started it but then landlord got a grant to do work in the house and took the staircase out, broke it into pieces when I knew someone who would have paid for it and removed it entire

I really hate chucking any clothes away. Even old t-shirts. I think, well I can wear a sweatshirt over the top of them. When I do buy something new it has got to be in a sale reduced to a silly price. I love whoopsied clothing :T There is a recycling bin for rags just down the road from me. I should take a few things down there I suppose. Might be able to womble a couple of things :D

lol that is sooo me too! Today I have on a pair of 4p jeans and a Posh T-shirt which I got reduced in debenhams and then used a £5 voucher on (the ones they sent to your phne ages ago) and cost about 25p.

One of my proudest buys was a pair of John Rocha jeans. 40 odd quid but reduced to 5.50 in final reductions as they had no top button. Used a voucher and pair 50p. Local haberdasherie sold me a stud for 40p so posh jeans for 90p. :)

So just some rope to compress the springs with, and its a DIY job then...erm not thats very dangerous, those springs are highley compressed.

However, have done that with a few mates before, must admit was sh1 ting self at the time :rotfl::rotfl:

Took my old Mondeo to ford and asked them to estimate full service @ £375 plus VAT, took to local mechanic £125 plus vat.

What is everyone doing on such a bright sunny day ?

    Stupid question huh :D

Once the car is fully off the floor, provided its jacked up by the body and not the suspension, the rear spings usually have very little if any tension left in them. You can usually change rears without spring compressors. As you say its a 20 minute job. One person each side in a dealer ship and the right tools and the job would be done before the kettle has boiled.

FloFlo so sorry to hear of your FIL's passing. You and your OH are in my thoughts and prayers. x x

Thank you everyone for your kind words about my mum, just tried ringing the hospital but it just rang and rang so left it for the moment. Will try again in a bit.

Rootednomad I have to thank you, I think I know what you mean about sounding level, funny thing is I can fall to pieces over the silliest of things which really don't matter and my family think I'm mad but when it comes to the big things I seem to have an inbuilt coping strategy, good in one way but I know when my Dad was very ill it came across as maybe not caring to his brothers. Making the decision for him not to be tube fed to prolong things was not hard he was a proud man and had suffered enough but they did not see it that way. And I hope this is not a too harsh thing to say on here this morning but to me death is part of life. :o

How dreadful, finding your Mum like that but, by the sounds of it, it's a good job you found her when you did as that infection had really taken hold. Glad to hear the anti-biotocs are working and her temp is down, so she can recover quickly

That is so like me. I used to be in tears at the littlest thing but my inbuilt coping system cut in when anything serious happened. On Anti-Depressants for a few years now, and no longer get upset over little things but I think it has dulled my senses in other ways and I think I come across as 'hard' sometimes when I am in 'coping' mode :(
