I've heard about that time. Sounded like a really good period for you all.
Unfortunately, I hadn't come across this site at the time.
But I've certainly learned a lot over the past couple of years.
Just have a feeling that the same might happen here. If one supermarket giant officially stops accepting coupons then the rest may follow.
Martin Lewis has such a powerful influence...I mean look at his recent TV appearance/weekly email. How many of us have noticed bigger crowds around the whooopsied sections lately? His 30-step guide to cheaper shopping also promotes couponing.
The worrying thing is that coupon fraud is rising too and sadly, that will mean we'll all lose out. I honestly think it's a matter of time 'til we'll see supermarkets stop accepting them.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

Haha I bet that made the cashier jump
I had an array of coupons that always took the shopping down to pennies
A friend and her used to think it comical as Mad got daggers and jealous stares from the old trouts that always had an excuse for not taking coupons.

Oh god yes, in the old days we used to have competitions to get a 'till ping'Used to make the SA's jump out their skins!
This is slightly different as it says 1 per transaction on the one and the other is a pound off 3 not per 3 so what we are doing is not 100% kosher and better not to get us or the SA's into trouble imo. Keeping under radars and all that.
I'll shut up now before I get accused of being Victor Meldrew again! :rotfl:0 -
French_Knickers wrote: »Can we all just be a litttle thoughtful when doing this please. Handing over so many identical coupons leaves us wide open to a good trouting. I got one yesterday. 9 items and 15 coupons....SA wasn't having a bar of it and would only scan 9.
I have SA's that I know will beep anything that scans but I don't want to risk them getting into trouble for taking tons of them in one go as thats not nice and could also result in them getting retrained in coupon acceptance.
A few at a times would be a more prudent approach I think. Just sayin
I agree with you FK!Altho it's a tad hypocritical to urge restraint whilst tearing the backside out of it!!:cool:just sayin!:)

I'm not....got 6 in my freezer and those were done in two transactions.
Yesterday was someone elses transaction. They were struggling with the maths so I helped out and got us trouted lol.....it was the trouting that got me thinking about it to be honest. Must look odd tot he SA buying say 12 items and handing over 20 coupons.0 -

I am not advocating coupon over use, but have read a couple of marketing reports that state that it is T's current no 1 campaign to increase footfall - it is their deliberate strategy atm aimed to get peeps through the doors and apparently it is working where other campaigns are failing (eg price check, price drop). I do not think it will be over redemption that makes T withdraw the flops and other in-house coupons - it will be when they start raking in the profits again, T will reduce coupon use when they believe the nose dive has stabilised.
I have no qualms about maxing out on T coupons because these offers are very carefully thought out by them. I would be more concerned about overuse of manufacturers coupons where T does not take the hit.0 -
Who was it that said (only a few days ago) that if the till was programmed to take the coupons that was T's fault?
All the coupons I used scanned not one of them had to be put in manually0 -
I also have an ancient cat -not sure how ancient as shes a rescue. But shes been having the Mr T M-A-M pulled beef reduced to £1 then used the coupons= free
maybe thats why she scoffs it down free stuff always tastes better!
Shes become alot more screechy lately -the vet says kitty alzheimer's shes only quiet when im cuddling her
But she is a very happy pampered cat! :A0 -

I have only had a zero balance on SS tills due to the oep/passata glitches, and the odd dash to grab chewing gum when subtotal said minus something0
