evening guys and gals .... hope everyones enjoying the weekend
the sun has been out here all day so the kids have been angels playing outside... happy days for me...tires them out ready for bed!
Apologies in advance if the next bit offends anyone...and I dont want it to cause chaos on the thread....buuuuuttt.....
it seems that over the last few weeks the ethos on this thread has gone to pot!!! we've had some newbies to MSE appear (welcome and hi!!)...so maybe some dont realise their errors...but theres many other not so new MSErs and even regular eliters that seem hell bent on bending the rules so far it could potentially snap altogether.
I'm talking about things like deliberately using mocs for the wrong product purely to get a better deal, using JTD vouchers even though you have returned evey item on the reciept...and today we have taking your own stuff into Ts and scanning it purely to get a deal and JTD.......unbelievable.
Are we really not happy with the deals that we get offered and the legitimate ways we can fleece Ts without deliberately bending the rules to a point which could put an end to it all?
Remember folks.....
original DTD was stopped and changed to JTD when people took the P.....
it was then capped....
they used to accept mocs even if you hadnt bought the product - people took the P - it stopped
they accepted competitors mocs.....people took the P - it stopped
I for one would rather them continue to let me use mocs ....but abuse will more than likely end this too.
A's dont offer half the 'incentives' as Ts do to obtain your custom (yes we all know their service etc is better)....maybe Ts will go the same way.....then we'll all be moaning even more and having to spend a lot more
rant over.....just would like to see the thread return to its ahem...law abiding ways
Well said Looby123. Difficult one though as there is definitely a line and everyone seems to draw the line in a different place - who gets to be judge and jury of what is acceptable? Because in terms of coupon use, there are very few genuine offers that will be attractive without some bending of the rules - the B & J/Pizza deal is an example of a "clean" offer. Most if not all of the rest involve "bending" the rules, ie using two or more coupons per transaction/customer/in conjunction with another offer - flops for pizzas, biscuits, salad, fruit, cake, etc, any offers on bogof items where the terms are one per transaction etc etc. If the ts & cs are followed to the letter, including the "not to be used in conjunction with another offer" rule, then often coupon use ceases to be viable. The DTD policy is subject to a fair use/not to be abused rule - this is a subjective measure, and what I think is abuse the next person may think is fair game. Pricecheck is subject to maximum numbers of checks per household per month and a cap on the monthly amount claimed - some are happy to exceed this, maybe others not. If we cannot discuss any of these deals then I suppose one benefit will be that it will be a whole heap easier to keep up with the threadbut also
I will not spell out where I stand on this because I don't think it is relevant to anyone else except me. What I will add to your excellent post though is a) we should be mindful of the platform we are using to discuss these deals, ie MSE and what the MSE stance is on coupon use and b) my preference is that all posters are treated courteoulsy and with respect and that it is recognised that everyone's boundaries may be aligned slightly differently. If "mistakes" are made, that any advice is given in a friendly and helpful manner and that individuals are not pilloried for making what someone else deems to be wrong (not referring to youir post here Looby).

Well done you :T That picture really made me smile, reminds me of when I was younger and my dad used to incubate chicken/duck/geese eggs if needed.
What's even stranger is that bowl you have in the background, is it an old bowl? I have a dish similar and have been trying to find out what set it is from!
And Hello everyone, just trying to catch up, hope all is well with you all
Yes the bowl is old, from the first set I had when I got married
1981!!!!
Still got the plates, cups and saucers, Kiln Craft used to come in a box altogether a bit like the James Martin sets in T's.:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Hi all
Have been away in Norfolk on hols, weather didn't quite beat us.
Thank you FK and others who shared their local knowledge :T the seals and bird life were amazing.
Was in As today, happened to see one of the off duty SAs in there shopping, telling her friend "ooooh no I just can't bring myself to buy anything Asda....don't know what it is about it" (meaning too cheap for her). Nutcase.
Wombled an £4.86 APG and found some change in the SS till I used (this keeps happening :T)
Still catching up on 200 pages.:starmod: DO IT NOW :starmod:0 -

i have been trouted for my pricecheck coupon last week and also in the past had my 1p chocs taken off me. And the nuts too.
but in the same store plenty of 1p stuff through and dtds. in that store they have good guys and bad guys.
the same goes for another store. which is easy to get 4p stuff through ss but will never get a dtd. In that store, have found a lovely SA to give me my free sausage.
when you get the free meat next week there shouldn't be a problem sis.:)
Hi Sis
What's the free meat all about, have I missed something ???I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0 -
Evening guys!!
I could do with your advice on a "dilemma" I have at the mo. I have a chance to fly out to Greece for 4 days and all I would need to pay for is my flights, which are just over £250. I can get the time off work one way or another, and have done the sums and can definitely afford it.
Would you go? It's a chance for some very welcome sun, a gorgeous place to go to and I know the people there.
My only bugbear is that when I went last year I got stuck there as my flight home got cancelled because of the strikes and I swore I would never go greek again. Surely that couldn't/wouldn't happen again???
It helps to have "someone else" to run this past. It's thanks to you lot (and mr t of course!!) that I don't have to worry about the money for probably the first time in my life :-)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Amazing how the thread can go from this lovely story to newbies and regulars alike being blasted for considering doing anything similar
Nooooooo, that would be disastrious. Apparently their stock control system will melt, rivers will run red and the sun will fall out of the sky
i think the clear difference here is that in RootedNomad's case, it was the SA that offered to scan the barcode of the correct pack yet sell a different pack - this is not us bending the rules, it is merely Ts offering good customer service ( a rare thing I know) which most of take for granted elsewhere.
Clearly my previous comments have annoyed/upset you, but hopefully they'll have given you food for thought too....
I suppose the easiest way to look at it is...is there a designated thread(s) for any other supermarket based on ripping them off?
No.
Why? Because Ts give us enough opportunity to do so - other retailers dont....lets not push Ts to the point where they join the other retailers.......
and if Ts become like the other retailers with rare glitches/misprices etc...this will be a very quiet thread....it might even last longer than a fortnight :rotfl::rotfl:hoping for a very MSE Ts glitching 2012!0 -

Go for it, never regret the things you have done, only regret the things you could have done but didn't do(well it make sense to me in Miss Laid land)
