Halifax Clarity - which ATMs can you use in the USA with no fee?

I understand that Halifax don't charge a fee for using their Clarity card abroad, but there is a note on their website that local providers may levy a charge on each withdrawal.
I'm off to the US in a few weeks and am trying to find out which ATMs I can use for free so I can add their locations to my Satnav, but I can't find any information as to which ones will be free and which ones won't.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Many thanks

I have also been trying to find this info, without success.
I have found that, apparently, the ATMs inside McDonalds in New York City only charge 99c. (I don't know if that is the same all over the USA.)Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
It's very rare to find a US ATM with no fee these days.
At one stage, using an ATM inside a supermarket was one way of avoiding fees. Our last trip in California found no supermarket ATMs without fees. One Vons supermarket even had 2 ATMs with differing fees.0 -
There's no hard and fast rule with ATM fees. Sometimes an ATM of one branch of a bank will be fee free, while others will charge.
I often found local banks to be the best place to get fee free withdrawals.0 -
I've been looking on http://www.mastercard.us/cardholder-services/atm-locator.html and you can search for ATMs that are within the 'surcharge free alliance' - however, whether this applies to UK issued mastercards such as Halifax Clarity I have no idea!0

it's a fee for use of the ATM and would apply (or not as the case may be) to any transaction at that ATM. I haven't tested any of the ATMs listed at this link but going to the US soon, maybe will check out a few and see what I find.
Like cubegame we have had good luck at local banks...based on searches of a few cities we visit, seems US Bank comes out quite frequently.
I also agree with photome and probably wouldn't make a huge effort to get to a free ATM in most cases - if I knew one was near/on the way then sure.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I think all the Us banks charge non-customers now.
I'd prefer to pay my $2.95 to a secure bank, than risk an ATM in a supermarket.
No experience of American supermarket ATMs, but the two supermarkets in my town have ATMs with problems.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

The ATMs in supermarkets that I have used are bank ATMs and branded as such.pollypenny wrote: »I'd prefer to pay my $2.95 to a secure bank, than risk an ATM in a supermarket.

A typical fee is $1.50 - not too bad on $200 but rubbish for $20.

We just used the clarity card for purchases in the US & got way better rates than we got for currency, just also take some dollars with you, most transactions in the US can be done on the card anyway as here, I tend to stay away from ATM's as I don't pay fees!0

But you pay the fees to exchange sterling to dollars before you go, swings and roundabouts.0
