Oh dear!
so much for giving the extra income to pay off some more debt. The car failing its MOT has cost me £350
really wish we were in a position to have just one car... i'm sure it'd save us a fortune.0 -
booked a holiday yesterday.... moneysaving of course.
got the flights for 1p each (£60 all in)
and got 40% off the accommodation.
In total a holiday to Dublin has cost us £300 for both of us and we're saying in one of the nice areas!0 -
i've had my letter from the moneyclaim website. Lloyds have until 14th may to defend my bank charge claim. Just checked and they've not done anything yet..... fingers crossed, i could do with the money!0

another look at my budget today and realised that my debt is now under the 20K !!!!
........ is it wrong to be excited to owe £18,487.36????0 -
well, it's been a week since my last post so here's an update for you folks..... anyone still reading this??????
The New Job.
I have finally received my police check back and start my new job in June. Here's the dilemma - one of the jobs i have previously looked at is being advertised again. It would be closer to where i will live, involves no weekend work and is approx £8000 a year more money. Do i apply even though i have only just secured this one?
Sellling Our House.
All our DIY work is complete and there's just some tidying up to be done before the estate agents come to view next friday. It was last valued at £225,000 only 2 months ago and we have spent approx £500 so we're hoping there will be some more profit in it.
Buying a New House
Our budget is anything up to £210,000 which will allow us to pay off most if not all of our loans.
Ok, so we went to view two places last weekend. The first was a 2 bed on the outskirts of redditch for £180,000. It was really nice but on a very busy main road and possibly over prices for the area. The 2nd was in the small village of !!!!enham....... and the house was equally small. A little 2 bed cottage on at £200,000, lovely but totally impractical - there wasn't even room to put up a table to eat off and one of the bedrooms couldn't even fit a wardrobe in! Plus the village has no local shop ( two pubs though  ) and we thought it would be quite annoying to have to drive 15 minutes away for a pint of milk!
On a plus side though we decided to take a drive around the area to see which areas would be suitable for us. We came upon Bidford on Avon (next to stratford) which is simply lovely and really close to work (no more than a 20 min drive for me and 10 mins for OH). With a local high street and the river going through it we thought there was no chance of finding a house in our price bracket. However, we have since discovered that it is classed as part of Alcester not stratford (it's between the two) and there are lots of good size properties in the area.
On friday we're going to look around two. the first is on at £214,000 but we have been told that they would be likely to accept a lower offer. it needs some work doing to it but nothing that wouldn't need doing until we had saved some money. It's three bed semi with a lovely large garden that backs on to open fields.
The second is in a similar area but is a 4 bed semi on at £200,000. There's not a lot of details on this one so we'll just have to wait and see!
Ebay
The last of the ebay stuff is going slowly - i expect we'll have more once we've moved. I reckon in total we've made about £750 which has paid for the cars MOT, insurance, tax and our city break in Sept.
That's all folks!0 -
Hi gingernut
Good to read the update - sounds like good progress on many fronts!
I'd say YES, apply for the job. If you get offered it you can weigh up the pros and cons and see which one you really want. OK it would be awkward to let down the first lot, but it's worth it to get the best job for you.
The houses sound great - just being nosy, what is the name of the village that got !!!!ed out? My imagination is going into Viz-style overdrive!
Good luck with it allTotal debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
lol, the name of the village is F E C K E N H A M!!!!!!!!!0

i have decided to apply for that job and just see whether it'll work for me.
we went for a look around another couple of houses last weekend and we think we might have found THE ONE
It's a three bed terrace in a quiet rural area and is the lowest price three bed in a 5 mile radius
It needs approx £15,000 of work doing to it but we could pay for that, pay off our debts and take £40,000 off our mortgage!!!!!
There's also room to make at least £20,000 to take it to the average price on the road which means the money we spend on it would be earnt back.
The big thing for us would be to keep a firm grip on our expenditure so that we wouldn't end up in the same position that we are in now.
At least i'd be able to sleep easy at nights!0 -
it's the last day today for Lloyds to put in a defence against their bank charges..... fingers crossed!0

Just wanted to say hi really
Just read through your thread and found it really inspiring, I'm trying to do my SOA but having problems getting all the info together cos I don't even know what half of them are!
Good luck with the selling/buying the house and the new new job :rotfl: fingers crossed that Lloyds don't file and defence today and you can claim default!! Let us know how it goes.
Keep posting, people read it even though they may not respond, it's great to see someone getting their s*** together lol!!
