I really don't know much about laptops! It's A Dell 1545 running Vista Premium - Pentium Dual Core CPU, RAM 3.00GB - System type: 32-bit OS?0
-
I have sold it for £170 (no idea if that's too little or too much!) but it's not going til Friday so have time to back out if I wanted to0
-
Upgrading your RAM, cleaning the HDD, etc will probably yield more benefit for less than the cost of a new one...
whats the current spec?
Agree with this, I have a 4 year old Dell Vostro, replaced the old hard drive with a new faster one (£50) and extra ram (£20) and it's like having a brand new machine.
Replacing hard-drive and Ram is simple plus there are loads of videos on YouTube on how to do both.
If it's just itunes and web surfing you're doing then your really throwing away money buying a high spec laptop.0 -
I did have the hard drive replaced about 6 months ago because the other one just died one day and wouldn't turn back on! Then after having a new one installed, it went funny so was repaired.
I have £170 (from selling this one) towards a new one. It's a very confusing topic because I don't really know much about computers to be honest!0 -
TBH if its a 1545 I'd want to offload it ASAP. Its from an era where manufacturing of the 1500 series shifted to China and the quality control dropped through the floor. I've seen countless where the customer has thought the screen hinges were broken and all thats happened is the screws have come undone because they stopped using threadlock on them.0

If it was me, I'd take the £170 and put it towards a new laptop, rather than keeping it and running it into the ground.
IMO you should be looking for an i3 or i5 processor.
Do you use the laptop for editing photos, or just storing them? How do I add a signature?0 -
Figment - that's what I'm thinking.
I don't really edit photos to be honest..! Just store them and upload to facebook lol!

This one seems like a good deal to an untrained eye. There's only £25 difference between the i3 and i5 so I guess it's worth it to just go for the i5?!0 -
Post a link to the i3 pleaseHow do I add a signature?0

That's the options they have that are in the clearance section so is quite a big saving.
The i3 isnt showing up anymore! That's the problem with clearance I guess..things sell out quicker!0 -
For comparison, this is the same spec as the i5 Sony, except had DVD instead of BluRay.
