Some kids programming is utter drivel, but in our house we tend to stick to Disney Junior, which has high-quality children's programming without the adverts and without the idiotic presenters that Cbeebies is plagued with.0 -

I had a massive knowledge of kids daytime telly when I was a student... also picked up a worrying amount of DIY knowledge from daytime makeover shows - hubby was gobsmacked when we bought our first house and I knew how to do loads of stuff just from the power of an arts student with a daytime telly addiction!
Sporticus and Big Cook and Little Cook are my prime targets for murder with a stapler by the way. Oh and Lola as in "Charlie and..."Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

I was never up in time for all that rubbish. Out of bed at 11, at the studios by noon, bed at 4am. I watched a lot of signed programmes but wasn't really in any fit state to learn much, being an arts student.

My DD is 7 months and we don't watch television, apart from 10 minutes on a Friday afternoon, after our carpet picnic (we do activities most other days) I usually record Mr Bloom (phwoar) for that, although personally I'm partial to a bit of Rastamouse once she's down for her nap :rotfl:.... clearly that one's designed for uni students !!
The most irritating children's TV characters have got to be Angelina Ballerina... soooo prissy... and Mike the Knight (just find the concept very overly American IYKWIM)
My foster sisters (3 & 4) liked Peppa Pig until the Daily Mail tried to ruin their fun http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2084021/Is-Peppa-Pig-making-toddlers-naughty-Parents-despair-children-copy-cartoon-answering-back.html0 -
My soon to be 2 year old has only just started getting interested in tv. Previously he'd watch Numtums or the songs from Horrible Histories (?!) but in the last week has got a thing for Toy Story 2. He loves the opening sequence and will watch a fair bit of it, he loves Jessie's song. I'm shocked that suddenly he'll watch something for more than a few minutes. I do sit with him and talk about what's going on. He likes the iPad, will get YouTube up and watch some phonics songs which we (I) sing. He knows about half the alphabet and numbers 1-5. We do spend a lot of time reading (because he really likes to), walk the dog every day and whatever else takes our fancy. He doesn't speak much yet but is asking what things are and repeating what we say all the time now. As people have said, tv (and other screen time) can be a great educational tool as long as it isn't used as a baby sitter all day. We saw our nephew at the weekend, he only got off the chair when his dad put baby tv on, he's been watching it since a few weeks old (he's a few months younger than my LO) My niece also watches a lot of telly but apparently in her 2 assessment she's either 'highly intelligent' or a 'genius' hmmm...0

Oh yeah, he was at a kids thing that the council put on last year. The mums in the playground were talking about wanting to go :rotfl:52% tight0 -

While I prefer the idea of Cbeebies to things like Nickleodeon - I still can't watch more than about 10 minutes of kids telly without wanting to murder whichever overly hairgelled spikey 20something is grinning inanely on the show in question... preferably murder with something slow and painful - like a stapler.
I really liked Chris and Poy when they were presenting, and Mr Tumble - but I hated Sarah Jane with a passion
