Are we REALLY in a Recession? I mean REALLY?

I appreciate the Technical Term - I've simply not seen any slowing up of the economy from my standpoint ..... indeed, even when I travel around, the 'problem areas' ever were so.
We are not seeing affluent places become slums ..... we are seeing slums cement their positions, maybe.
But, you look at any Council House across the land and you will see a sky satellite on the roof, a 42" Plasma TV in the lounge, a new BMW outside and a foreign holiday being booked in the kitchen.
The small, 0.3%, drop in growth means nothing on the ground.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -

Same old.... why bother to respond to the OP in the first place as it always ends up with mud slinging, which is the sole purpose...0

I see plenty (the majority) of council houses having no new BMW outside. I very much doubt they are booking foreign holidays from the kitchen, but I can't say for sure because I'm not often in council house kitchens, and even when I am, it would be unlikely that they would be booking a holiday while I am there. Either you do happen to be in council house kitchens while the occupants are booking holidays, or you are making this stuff up.
And I'll enlighten you some more. A 0.3% drop in growth does mean something on the ground. I meet lots of people in lots of different circumstances. Some are doing fine (a few better than ever). Many are doing OK, although not doing as well as they were a few years ago. A sizeable minority are definitely "feeling the pinch". This is partly down to lack of work and partly due to increased cost of living.
Now you may argue that these people's circumstances are not directly due to the -0.3% growth, and I would agree with you, but the picture you paint is not representative of the country as a whole and does not show that we are not in recession.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older.
