Need to pop in to town today as I have 3 birthday pressies, cards and paper to buy. It is going to be one of those weekends where DH and I will be like ships what with party's, work stuff and cub outings.
I also need to get veggies, fruit and baking stuff. Will try and keep the spends down as much as I can.
Have made a GF banana and walnut loaf this morning.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Can I ask what time you went? I am hopefully keeping out of the shops today except to go for a take away for my husband tonight. One off treat out of another budget.
Me and the kids are having home made chicken curry.

Meat carved and portioned:j
I have saved the seived beef stock in 2 takeaway tubs for freezing.
The fat that was left in the seive was warmed up again in order to be able to strain the meat 'scum' off.
The fat is also now in a takeaway tub for freezing. That will save me a bit of money too as it is the equivalent of two pats of butter:T. I will use it for meaty pie pastries, etc;)
A roast dinner is in order today but as Florenceem wisely reminds us, portion control! OH won't like it but I am only putting a couple of slices on each plate so it will last us a good long time:rotfl:
Kids have gone out with OH for the day and are pleased with their lunch boxesBless em.
Only foraging today is my own raspberries n strawberries. Weather is pretty miserable here at the moment. Hope it picks up.
Hope you are feeling better today, greenfairy.:):A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

It was about 7-7.30. I'm not normally free on a Thursday night so I wasn't expecting the reductions at all :j
If you need to top up your shop with milk etc, always aim to go in the evenings and stagger your times til you judge the best time for your local.
I went in for fruit, cooked meat, salad, cereal and milk mainly. A lot of that was 75% off. Some fruits were reduced way more than that too such as the plums which were 5p but originally £1!!! (95%off)
That's why I didn't mind stocking up out the next fortnights budget. It would have been ridiculous not to benefit from the opportunity. I will only need milk, potatoes (maybe not even those as I have some in the garden), onions and a few more f&v things over the next fortnight.:A Every moment is a gift. That said, I don't use antibac soap (or cleaning products) at all as it gets rid of good bacteria as you've pointed out. Plus, combined with all the other antibac products that get used these days, they're actually serving to make us less healthy, not more. All we really need is normal soap and hot water for bodies and household cleaning.
Oh OK :rotfl:thanks for that! I don't use antibac stuff either as I think your immune system needs to get used to fighting stuff off when you are younger so that it is better able to fight off bugs etc through your life. I think it's been proved that being too "hygienic" isn't good for you.

Just had a delivery from Tesco which came to £55, will probably need to get some more veg, milk and bread later.
Dinner last night was Gruffalo Crumble aka Veg and blue cheese bake.
I cubed enough potatoes for 5 of us, 2 sweet potatoes, carrots and leeks. Put a knob of butter in a big pan and sauted them off with 3 or so crushed garlic cloves. I then added 300ml of milk and 300ml of veg. stock (I used Bisto Best) and then simmered it until the veg was cooked. Transfered it to an oval Pyrex and crumbled 250g of blue cheese of the top. I whizzed together butter and Doves GF flour to make a crumble topping and spread it over, (GF) bread crumbs should work just as well I think. Popped it in a 220degC oven for 30 mins (with my oven I would probably try 20-25 mins next time.) Clean plates all round.
ETA: If you have people who just cannot do with out their meat then a couple of rashers of bacon chopped up and fried off and then added would be good. Or a couple of sausages cookked of and chopped up.

Fab haul Jumblejack
- my local sm never seems to make reductions that low.
Smelkel87 - welcome to the challenge and best of luck on Sunday.
I made bacon and tomato pasta last night courtesy of a recipe posted on this thread by a lovely person a while ago - sorry I can't remember who. It went down very well and all disappeared very quickly so I'll definitely be making it again. It was really cheap too as I had half a pack of bacon bits left over from making coq au vin on Sunday, with tin of toms, pasta and bit of cheese. Probably only cost about £1.20 for the 4 of us!Pay debt in 2012 #278 £2347/£5364

Aaaww!! thank you Thrifty, you made me feel all nice and smiley.
We are fine, they are getting very excited and I am getting all panicy as we are no where near ready for moving. We'll get there I'm sure.
Right I really need to get off my bum and get down town and do that shopping. See you later folks.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
