  • First weekly shop done and I stuck to the list! Yay!! Does anyone else find it's much easier to do if you shop on your own?? My BF is like a kiddie in a supermarket!

£40.41 spent - but they didn't have any salmon or celeriac so I will have to trust the BF with some shopping pennies so he can pick those up!

Evening! Popped on to report another NSD today - 2 in a row for July so far. Still, I do need to buy a few bits & pieces tomorrow so will be popping to Mr M tomorrow morning to pick up cooked meat, bread, food bags & bathroom cleaner. Whoo!

    Have a lovely evening, everyone.

    K xx

Does anyone have any idea what I can do with a big bag of basil? I wanted to do a pesto but havent got any pine nuts. It was 10p for the full bag so I dont want to buy anything else as that would defeat the object. I have got olive oil and a bag of ready grated parmesan.

I could look on the internet but wondered if anyone had any tried and tested recipes they could share?

    thank you

You don't have to necessarily use pine nuts. I just drizzled my pasta generously with olive oil and then stirred in my chopped herb (parsley in my case which was chopped with garlic). Grate on your favourite strong cheese and enjoy
(check out post 59 on the previous page ;))

Use the basil whilst it's at it's best.

    Enjoy your supper.

By the way, parmasan freezes really well. I just grate straight from frozen so there's never any waste ;)

Can I be put down for £160 for this month please. This is still based on £40 a week but it's a 4 weeker for us this month.

This will be for all groceries for the four of us.

Feeling bright eyed bushy tailed and ready to rock July lol.

Oh - where is the cheapest place to get re-useable freezer boxes in bulk (need about 30)?

    Best regards to all,
If you don't need lots of boxes all at once, you could save ice cream tubs - they're perfect for the freezer!

Today is my birthday and so being very non MSE tonight and having a chinese take-away but that is definitely coming out of a different budget! Very impressed with my birthday pressie from DH and the kiddies - a blueberry bush! We don't have much money and so to get me something without going overboard and also something we can eat is fantastic (maybe I am winning him over to MS afterall!!)

    Have a good day all

Happy Birthday Jedi - a bit late, but hope you had a lovely day.

I was up at 6am with DD2 and made some Bread Pudding out of the scrap ends that I have been saving from my hm bread, so that was in and out of the oven for 8.30am (house smelt luurrvely). Got back from school run at 9.30am and made Tuna Pasta Bake which I divided up into portions and put in freezer for DH to have 'ready meals' for work for the week. Also made some hob nob biscuits (nob nobs as DD1 calls then as she got muddled up with the name), so we have a few treats too. Just sat down after all this to have a cup of tea and a couple of biccies. Will then get DD2 her dinner, make some Jelly for DD1, ready for tonights pudding and then head off to school for 1.30 as it's DD1's Sport, then after that it's her swimming lesson and then back home for 5.30 to have dinner, salami pasta for DH and I and Fishfingers, hm chips and peas (an jelly of course) for DD1.

Phew, roll on 7.30 when they are all in bed :) Must admit I have thoroughly enjoyed it all today xx
I'm worn out just reading about it all :rotfl:What a day! But I bet you're really pleased with everything you've achieved :T
