Came in JUST under budget for June - spent £39.84 of £35!
So, will put myself down for £35 again for July please. I still have stores in the cupboards and freezer, which helps a lot!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
Gah, I hate days like this. Had everything in (or so I thought) for tonight's tea and discover my potatoes are softer than sponges and sprouting for England. So, I've just had to pop to the Spar shop to get some. £1 to add to my total - will update my sig accordingly.
Hopefully I can get an NSD one of these days ...

I have had a fair few months off this as having DH back really put a stop on my money saving
(evident by my £3k credit card bill ... Admittedly a lot of that was our stupid car but still
)
I have £500 in my grocery account and this is to cover food, laundry products, personal products and pet food.
So could I be put down for £500 for July pleaseNSDs 7/20

Hi, reporting a spend of £1.62 today in Tesco on some half price houmous, reduced price Spring Onions for thai curry and stir fry this week and 3 bottles of reduced price coconut water (29p but buy three and the multibuy kicks in even though they're reduced, bargain as you save 30p!) to use to cook the rice in for the thai curry. Leaves £72.56 until 28th July.My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Yes!! :j:j:j
It's all about buying when stuff is cheap and then when you suddenly run out of loo rolls at midnight, instead of going out to find a 24 hour Tesco, you go to YOUR store, and give YOURSELF the money, instead of giving it to the SM.
And of course, if you are having a money crisis, you dont actually HAVE to pay to get stuff out of your shop.....it can give it to you free
Sallys Stores has got me out of a tricky situation often over the last 6 months :rotfl:
The SP system doesnt get you MORE money be it sort of recirculates it, so you give less away to the SM's and keep more in your home, to spend as you wish.......

Well I came in a wee bit under last month so please put me down for £250 in July - this includes all groceries, toiletries, pet supplies and cleaning products (but not eating out or alcohol) for me, OH and the cat.
Roll on July GC, I am excited! Should spend a bit less this week as we're away over the weekend and eating out doesn't count towards GCPart time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

If its HUGE, I tend to boil 1st and then roast (cutting the rind off before adding the honey and grainy mustard as it goes in the oven) but if its just a regular size, just roasting it seems to work fine for me.....
I roast for an hour, remove rind, add the honey and mustard and roast for another 30 or 45 minutes.
Are there directions on the label? T*sco and Sainsbods ones seem to just say roast these days....0 -

I've tried to get my head around it loads of times - I do "get" the principles of it but just can't errrr get my head fully around it eg I don't have a lot of cupboard space..... how on earth do you know when you go to the cupboard, what is "yours" and what is "shop" IYSWIM?
I'm afraid it seems a load of hassle to have to work that out everytime you want to get a jar or packet of something out to use?
I don't really get how buying stuff on offer and then buying it back from the shop at FP saves money (well I get there's money to go into a 3rd purse ) - but surely you save just as much buying stuff on offer anyway and then keeping the money in the bank as you'll not need to buy it again for ages.
Sorry ..... maybe just me but just really don't get it TBH.:oGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
