My July starts tomorrow, money ready in purse for week one,way too excited really!!!!

Trying to get my head round second purse, thinking about using left over cash from last month to start one,do they work?
    Sept GC £200
  • Dipndo on post 6 at the beginning there is a link to the second purse thread. To be honest I didn't understand it, but someone here kindly explained it in simple terms so I will have a go.

Say you see teabags on offer for £2 and normally there £3 and you buy them from the second purse not from groc challenge. Then when you need teabags you 'buy' them with groc challenge money from your second purse for £3 (proper price) so then your second purse has made a profit of £1. some people use this money for treats or holidays etc.

    Hope that made sense :S

Where is the recipe for Flo's muffins? Looked on the recipes at the front unless it's labelled differently.

Just started the July budget and have managed 2 shops in one day, £11.38 at Mr M and £57.46 at A!d!. The big shop included loads of meat which is now rammed into the freezer!

Bought a gammon joint which I cooked in the slow cooker yesterday for about 6 hours. Got back from the kids' summer fair to the most gorgeous smell and the meat was melt in the mouth! Will keep some in the fridge for packed lunches this week, and freeze the rest.

Tonight it's chicken, so the next few dinners will be made with chicken leftovers.

Made cheese scones for a change yesterday, kids hated them, we loved them!

    Have a lovely weekend everyone.:)

Just back from the first shop of the month at Mr S (to use a money back voucher and Nectar points), Aldi, greengrocers and butchers - spending a total of £23.70.
I may need to pick up a bit of dog food in the week so will probably get up to £25 for the week.

I have been following all of June, decided to try and join in proper for July....

Last month I spent £449.97 so I have set myself a budget of £400 for July.

If I could save £50 for next 6 months I would be very happy!

The freezer is empty except for some ice cream and I probably have enough in the fridge to last another 4 days or so... I have my notebook, coloured pens and folder with coupons and calculator!!

Today I want to plan this month, and I need to work on getting my OH properly on board. I have what I like to think are nice meals all made up, but when I got home from work last night I found he had brought Fish and Chips!!

I just need to copy all you guys and hopefully I can do as well?!

  • I have to buy a gargantuan amount of cat litter tomorrow. Happily, they pee outside. I'm prepared to put up with the poop as it means it's not in the veg patch :rotfl: Sorry!!

For anyone who needs to get this, there's been an interesting thread on the pets board - Oko seems to generally be thought as the best, as although it's expensive to buy it lasts for ages.

Something similar has onto the market and, if it's as good as has been said, it will work out at around £4 / month for 2 cats :j (neither of which "go" outside!) which is a pretty big saving on what I'm paying now.

Might be worth keeping an eye on the thread to see what the feedback is from those who've bought it to try https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4030425 HTH :)

Hi all, been very lazy with posting recently, but do catch up with posts when I can!
Here is what I have spent so far for June (this was last weekend),

Marks and Spencers £16.24. Used the £5 MOC, and got deli offers.

Morrisons £45.33, also used the £5 MOC, got loads of good offers, 1/2 price turkey breast, Cornflakes, yogurts, crisps and the usual YS.

This week, £23.75 in Home Bargains, mostly toiletries as DD14 goes mad with the shower gel and deodorant!!

£5.44 in Aldi, milk, super 6, bits and bobs.

Not doing a food shop this week, as got so much in the freezer!

    Total for June, £90.76

Lunch was freezer HM Spag Bol, with whoopsied garlic bread, Dinner will be Whoopsied French fries from Mr A's, with fish fingers. Working tonight, so nothing too taxing!!

Plan for next week is to use a £10 off £50 that Mr T sent me, together with as many MOC's as I can!!

Hope all are staying out of the rain, and enjoying the weekend!
    Sally.
