The hard drive is listed in the BIOS but won't boot. The DVD drive isn't listed, nor is USB a boot option.
I'm beginning to think this could be an issue with the BIOS or motherboard. How do I add a signature?0 -

Having kept quite up to now, my money is on a motherboard bus, bus connector, or bus interface chip fault. Its the only thing that would cause the collective symptoms.
Cant see an easy way to check apart from unplugging devices and plugging them into another machine to see if they respond properly.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. should still show up on the device list. If the hdd is on the list, the cd shoudl be, unless theres some sort of bus addressing fault on the MB.
Scroll back to the OP. A hung bus fits exactly all the symptoms. Could even be something as stupid as a dodgy bus plug or cable.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts.
