I was in some department store loos last week & there were two young mums with pushchairs waiting to use the mother & baby room. One had one of these 3-wheelers & when she tried to wheel it into the room, it wouldn't fit through the door! The other one had a normal 4-wheeler & had no probs. They do look very bulky, I think & I found them heavy when I tried one out.
I've bought an M&P Pliko Pramette for when my bundle of joy arrives..having a disability meant I had to make sure I got something very easy to use. It had to have two separate handles, like strollers have (rather than one bar that goes across, if you know what I mean) as I find them better to manoevre. Also swivel front wheels for same reason, and lightweight & as I do a lot of walking rather than driving, something that baby could lie flat in to start with.
The pramette felt like the best one for me out of all of different brands/styles I test-drove & the M&P staff were really helpful. Plus I had £100 off as the fabric style was being discontinued...but it's a really nice black & grey muted pattern, suitable for boy or girl, so that was fine. Oh, and space is short as well so I wanted something that would fold up quite small, which it does.
The Pramette converts from a flat pram into a pushchair for when baby is older...though I'm not sure realistically how soon they might grow too big for the puschair. I didn't need the carrycot as baby can lie flat in this anyway, so I just got the carseat to keep in the car, and it clicks into the pram for the odd occasion I want to take both car & pram out with me.0 -
Although it's tempting to get a system that will last until the child is or 4, do consider if you will be having another baby within that time. You may not get the use out of it that you pay for if your oldest isn't big enough to use a buggy board all the time and you need to go double buggy.Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early

I know people have their favourite prams etc. but IMHO I wasted too much time, effort and money on nursery equipment etc. The £500 cots look lovely etc but the £100 ones are just as hard wearing. Then there are rocking cradles and moses baskets, again used for such a short time and so expensive. If your pushchair comes with a carrycot consider whether you really need. I also wasted money on a bouncy chair which was hated from the start. I perserved because it looked so much fun:rolleyes: but it was put away in mint condition  . Then there are baby baths. I found it easier to use a washing up bowl as the baby bath was so heavy when full to lift to empty if you liked to bath them in front of the roaring fire !

"even a sleeping baby can be easily moved into it's pram."
sorry greenstuff but i have to disagree! my son used to wake as soon as you touched him & then screamed for ages cos he was tired but couldn't or wouldn't go back to sleep. many times ended up carrying him so he'd shut up while pushing an empty pram! i hope the next one due in nov is different, but just in case i am looking for a travel system this time. anyone know of any good ones that fold small enough for a small car boot but are under £100?
i agree with poppy9 about cheaper goods - our changing mat that was £3 from wilkinsons lasted 3 years - longer than friend's £20 designer one. he slept in carrycot till he got too big - didn't bother with moses basket. he was in big cot by 3 months anyway as quite big & did star jumps in his sleep. most of his toys are from car boots & charity shops but his favourites are still cardboard tubes & pens to use as drumsticks!Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0 -
if you have not had the baby yet, i bought a mamas and papas freestyler completo which is an absolutly fab pram but i now secretly wish i bought the pramette or even the pliko p3 as these both fold in the umberella way thus saving so much room. the one pram i would never buy again is graco, i bought 3 for my first son ( i have a slight addiction to prams) and each one broke or fell apart or the wheels squeked, and they just seem really flimsy and plasticy, if i was you id go for mamas and papas or there is a new pram out called loopa or somthing like that and its loverly and trendy (they sell it in toys r us
i became quite the conasour (yes i know thats not how you spell it, im blond, dont judge me) of nursery equipment while pregnantWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
I had a huge graco thing to start with and I have to say the whole clip in clip out car seat business was a lifesaver. A sleeping baby can be an awake and annoyed baby veyr quickly if you try to move them.
Now though, I just bought a Maclaren Quest Stroller and it is FAB. Very small and lightweight when folded and fantastic now that my daughter is 9 months and i don't need a pushchair that is car seat compatible.0
