I had a silver cross with an attachable lie flat carry cot. Trouble was dd hated lying flat from week 1. She would scream and scream everytime which wasn't like her at all. When Health vistor saw me turn up with sceaming baby at clinc once she told me that it was probably the restricted view from teh carry cot as its difficult to see your face. So I I put her in the buggy seat with the special wedge for newborn babies and she was happy a larry and would sit for hours in the buggy. Physically did her no harm as she was crawling at 4 months old and standing up holding onto furniture at 5 months.

I bought - and sold - a Loola within 3 weeks. In my opinion, it is an AWFUL pushchair - and believe me, I've had a few!! I think I'm up into the 60s now. The Loola is difficult to push, hard to click the seat in, doesn't lay flat so isn't suitable for a newborn without a car seat/carrycot, has a cheap looking hood, raincover is difficult to get on, its heavy to lift in and out of car (especially if you have a C Section), shopping basket holds virtually nothing. The only good thing I can say about it is that you can lock or swivel the wheels without having to bend down.
I've found the best pushchairs to be Mamas and Papas. I've never had any problems with after care, customer service has always been keen to help and they even understand my less than helpful descriptions when I loose parts!! The P3 is a great pushchair, everything the Loola isn't. I also have a Freestyler which is a very roomy pushchair - good for a larger child. Am also the proud owner of the MPX travel system which I found great when my daughter was little, so easy to clip the car seat on and off.
I wouldn't recommend the Chicco C1 either, the handles swivel around so you can find a comfortable position for the 'pusher', only thing is they tend to swivel when you walk as your hands knock the buttons.
I'm sure I'll think of other pushchairs that are good/bad so I'll be adding more soon0 -
Had a baby 6 weeks ago and have purchased the Chicco trio travel system 2005 model and cannot fault it. Has all you will need from birth to age 4 and is stylish and superb as well as being lightweight. Very easy to lift even after a c-section ( worth considering ) in case it should happen. First time around had M & P 3 in 1 pram lovely as it is very very heavy and could not lift it at all after C-section for 12 weeks and was a waste of money also hard to get into the car! Chicco is perfect and also the carrycot can be raised from the outside to allow baby to lay on a slant perfect for if they are sicky babies or have a cold as my DS does at the moment. Good luck and hope this helps.0

Hi, I would just like to say someone told me there was a pram demonstration at John Lewis last week so I went along.
It turned out to be a Nursery demonstration that was fantastic.
They provided a buffet and drinks and a goody bag, and there was loads of advisors there so you could ask questions, they demonstrated prams, re-usable nappies etc., and I have changed my mind about the pram we loved.
Although it was lovely and a real comfy ride for baby it was so heavy and hard to push - great if you walk loads but not very practical if you use the car and busy shopping centres a lot.
The other one I hate to say we really liked was the M&P, it was so light and you could push and steer it effortlessly with one hand, but we hated the car seat system, but the advisor said this that's very true.
You should go for a car seat that fits your car best, they wil find and fit the best one for free and do a price match service too.
A baby should be left in a car seat for no longer than an hour and a half at a time so it's best to take them out and put them in a pram thats far more comfy, even a sleeping baby can be easily moved into it's pram.
Just thought I'd add that as we were looking for a travel system and the car seat was a big factor.
It may be worth checking your local John Lewis for their next demo, you don't have to buy from them in the end.Waddle you do eh?0 -
I wanted to put a vote in for the Jane matrix travel system. The car seat lies flat and can be raised as baby gets more sturdy. The car seat clicks into the chassis directly to give a little pram. The buggy part is easy to push and our daughter (now 2) finds it comfortable for snoozes. We have the 4-wheel version (I can't remember it's name!)
The down-side was that it took a bit of practice to fit the car seat.Stercus accidit0 -
Our baby is 4 months old. We bought a mama's and papa's pliko 3 pram and car seat.
The product itself is excellent but the only drawback is the six months warranty! We decided to buy the pram anyway and have had no problems with it (so far).0 -
hi, i purchased the mamas and papas 03 series 15 months ago and love it....it is a really comfortable pram good for long walks etc. Downside being no good for shopping...no swivel front wheel! and a lot heavier than most prams but it does look stylish!........my advice is go to a good pram retailer and try them all out...folding down, picking them up etc..good luck£900 towards next holiday...ta very much Mr T x0

I have now had 4 little darlings and I would say take all the folding, carrying etc info on board but choose what you like to push and like the colour and style of, believe me it's like buying a house or car you know which one you like. I've always had mamas & papas, so elegant and stylish and very hardwearing, no wobbly wheels and fabric very lightfast and easy to clean. Only once have I used a Graco system and it was awfull!, clips don't go together properly, fabric shopping basket is flimsy, seat covers thin and ....Urgh! and nearly everyone has the same pushchair, they are everywhere!!
M&P definatley a good quality choice! :T
You get what you pay for, and they have excellent carry cots that fit on the chassis, you definatley need a carrycot, little babies should be lying flat, not all scrunched up in a car seat. And if it's too big to go in the car boot WALK!! fresh air is good! :j
You dont need to buy a whole travel system, just get the pram you like (ones that convert into a pushchair are good) and buy a seperate car seat.0 -
Dont get a three wheeler unless your jogging (which is what they were designed for) it looks pretty silly in town and can get punctures in the tyres!0

My wife became the Jeremy Clarkson (Vicky Butler-Henderson?) of the pram / travel system roadtesting world.
Most 'net price comparison sites came up with kiddicare - https://www.kiddicare.com - as the cheapest, our (ok, her) findings were....
1. The Kiddicare shop in Peterborough is cheaper than the 'net prices for Kiddicare.com
2. The cheapest place to buy was actually http://www.kimsbabycentre.com/acatalog/shop.html - they were wholesale only, but now do retail.
For what it is worth, we saved £70 on the Kiddicare price (which was itself lower than anywhere else!!) by going to Kims (their shop prices are the same as the 'net) and buying an Inglesina travel system (which fitted all the tough criteria at the start of this thread - small when folded, lightweight but tough etc).
Cheers!0
